    The leads from the caps are wrapped once around the pins from the board, and then soldered to the pins. The output cap is only attached to the board by it's positive lead. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's a few pics to help clarify. :)

    Most stock atty's will draw more than 1.5 amps @ 5v. So go with the 3 amp regulator. And joker was right about the led's, they don't take much power at all.

    Scott- the TI regulator you asked about is the UCC283-5. But I don't think the regulator is the problem. Wait and see what the new batteries do, but the regulator from MadVapes shouldn't be the issue.
