Can someone fill me in on the ceramic?
I understand the wicking part, (correct me if I am wrong) it's to draw fluid from the cart wadding towards the coil where it is heated, and protect the coil.... Right?
Is there a reason for the 'solid ceramic'? Other than to support the Nichrome and...
I'm going to repost an email that I sent to Happy Vapor this morning after receiving my Vanilla Custard flavoring...
Oh. My. Gawd!
I got home last night and put one drop of the Vanilla Custard in my cart.... Finished that cart up and did it again... And again... And again... And again...
I'd save that for v2!
Once this beast gets operational, then we gotta figure out how to mount it...
And RoadKilll - you BOUGHT lights? Don't you have 20,000 dead ones lying around? I know I will come December.... (And they where all new last year!)
RoadKill - nice pictures - it's great to see someone knows how to focus! :-)
Scottbee - what are we trying to accomplish? Burned fingers of course!
Aspiring Glass Workers - Small pieces of normal glass, like the ones that we are talking about here, can be 'worked' with stuff that you already...
I guess I read too much... This sounds easier and more permanent than anything else...
For those concerned with soldering the nichrome read this by Vaporer post 128 and 132.
:-)
I was messing around this evening with glass (artsy fartsy stuff) and the instructor couldn't come up with any reason for this not to work... Of course, she didn't understand the full aspect of what we are doing - but she didn't see any issues with sticking metal in glass - she says that...
:-) Obviously, it just spewed from my brain with no thought.. (I have a very poor censoring chip in my head!)
So there needs to be some wire expansion area... Hmmm... I may have access to a 1500 degree kiln - just have to go to the dollar store and get a Pyrex cup, that should be enough...
Wow - definitely 'outside of the box'!
You have stated all of the cons that I can think about;
My #1 concern would be the epoxy fumes... Perhaps a drop of molten glass on the end to seal it instead?
Thermal conductivity of air would take an extra second or two, I would think... but is it...
Sweet! one of my tricks actually helped someone!
If you stop and think about what's actually happening in the PV, alot of what people say doesn't make any sense.. You gotta think for yourself sometimes!
Stuffing takes up space - less space, less fluid. Less wadding - more fluid. After...
When it tastes funny.... Seriously!
Mine tastes kinda dry and 'plasticy', so I fill it back up (and change the battery - mine only lasts about 45 min) and away I go again!
It might also be that the stock filler in the cart might be too tight....
I have reloaded mine with fluval, and it's much looser than the factory origianls... (My theory is that it is just in there to keep the eJuice from falling out anyway!)
If you want to try to loosen up the wadding, take...
BWAH!
And I was going to make some comment about the whole Coke and PGA thing... I mean - why waste it after its been used to clean?... Bottoms up! :-)
Mine are soaking right now... I'll let you know how it tastes when I'm done.. Assuming I can remember... :-)
Crazyhorse - I would think that it would provide more contact area for the coil to touch itself, as well as the eJuice, thereby shorting itself out - but hey, I don't know much.....
I'm adding it to the jumble of ideas though - thanks!
