I'd say go straight for an RTA if you are going to spend that kind of money. You will save it in the long run, because rebuilding is dirt cheap.

Maybe the batteries are the problem. I once used really bad 18350s that wouldn't even get me to fire because they dropped the voltage so badly under load.
