This is incredibly irresponsible. You don't know this persons soldering skills and being that it is their first DIY mod it really isn't something they should be trying.
A good Keystone holder with good contacts and the proper gauge wire will work at over 50w easily.

Take the flaps and fold them under, that's what I do. I don't think your battery dealer is helping you very well. Running batteries in series carries many more risks than running them in parallel. Also, there are pre-wired parallel 18650 battery holders available. Some have protection built in...
Think I replied to this from you in another thread, but the Keystone 1048 is the best you can get for a dual battery holder.
