Hmm, sounds more like a manufacturing problem either on your 510 connection or on your delivery device's central pin. My protanks sit flush on all three top caps that I have (standard, black, black flat).

I think the only factor that might play a role is how large the hole in the middle is. If it's too thin, the draw might be tighter, thus reduced quantity of vapor (which I think affects flavor by a degree).
