Quick reply; maybe more detailed later.
It is great that you are thinking of improvements - that's the whole point, although I think it is very good as is.
Re 'unknown concentration of alkaloids' - yes, tobaccos vary but one can look up the tobbacco one is using and be pretty sure of the...
Having thought more about it, DVap is welcome to the WTA term, as the creator of the aronym.
But I'm not interested in his opinion on this method as it is clear from years of silence that it would be considered 'competition' and slighted. No problem with commercial enterprise, just done fairly...
The history behind WTA. which you have written me (and may others) out of, said that the problem with traditional NRTs, including vaping, was that it did not take into account the full spectrum of alkaloids.
Purity is a different matter. A NET is a WTA, no question.
You are redefining WTA as a...
DVap, in his blog, states that a NET is not an impure WTA.
That's odd because WTA stands for 'Whole Tobacco Alkaloids' meaning all the alkaloids in tobacco, not just nicotine.
The acronym is not PureWTA (PWTA). The attempt to redefine the term does look a lot like it is being treated as a...
Quick note on the OP's method - unassisted by sodium carbonate) - I suggest that the ideal steep time be nearer 9 hours at freezer temp. (75% alkaloid recovery).

I think the OP froze the tobacco by itself but that may not have caused much cell wall disruption as the leaves are partially...
Soaks are a form of WTA, just not that pure.
Having said that (about not very pure), far more pure than smoking (on that I do disagree with DVap). The extract is less than 1% of the original toacco. The bulk of that is not just harmless fibre - that would be combusted in smoking it.
For a...
Suggested simple improvent to the cold ethanol method
The idea is to mix some sodium carbonate powder (USP / made from food-grade sodium bicarbonate by heating the powder in an oven) with the tobacco before adding the alcohol (immediately after - no need to wait); this should free-base the...
Absolutely ! Also, never use IsoPropyl Alcohol (IPA) nor methanol.

I think I used a lower proof alcohol (water content) - hence the less than pleasant taste (it was just a quick test).
The method I used to try this out didn't provide much flavor, but many posters in this forum think it is great (flavor). That is, I noticed very little nicotine 'hit' and didn't much care for the orher flavor. But that is just me on 1 try. However, I did find a pronounced relaxing effect. I...
Chipping in : A typical soak / NET - 100g tobacco in 200ml - will give a final alkaloid content (in organic salt form) in the range 1.5 mg / ml to 5 mg / ml.
Because it has a range of alkaloids that work synergistically, it will feel a lot more potent than that, relative to nicotine only...
As any extraction takes only the soluble constituents, and use of involves no combustion, all extracts will be a big step forward in terms of safety, imo.
At ~50% extraction, the cold ethanol soak is reasonably productive. Knowing that figure (will vary according to method details and tobacco...
I expect DVap will do so - it would be a good indicator of the split - freebase to salts.
ps: must leave now. But wanted to note that many who do the ethanol extraction do it for 6 weeks, r.t. 6 hours. Neverthless, the experiment and resultsare most welcome. I'll check back later.
pps: tceight...
The ~1mg / g nicotine content listed on cigarettes / tobacco is that received from the smoke. There's ~10x more than that available in the tobacco for extraction (~1%).
If I am right that vaping is more mist than vapor, some fraction of the alkaloid salts would be inhaled; but what 'benefit'...
In summary on cotinine and niacin - cotinine might be the main benefit giving constituent, and minus the negatives of nicotine (e.g increaded heart rate), with niacin as the MAOI component.
Steeped e-liquid more like WTA (though not it's equal, maybe not too far off?)
That some nicotine will...

Looking like the original science on smoking, focussed solely on nicotine, was flawed in two ways over - it ignored the other ('minor') tobacco alkaloids; it ignored the role of oxidation and the oxidation products (there's overlap).
These ignored chemicals might even turn out to be the major...
