I saw some cotton rounds at CVS today, and according to the label they were 100% cotton. Unfortunately they were $3.79, which is cheap compared to silica, but I like playing $1.00 from Family Dollar. Mine have a quilted pattern as well, wouldn't worry about that too much.
Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely try that. I also received some 28g Kanthal today so it's time for making some new coils, especially for my mechanical mods.
Here's my 4th foray into cotton wicks. It's a spin-e coil with cotton on my mini DID. Tried to use SS mesh, but it just kept shorting. I may try wrapping the SS mesh in cotton at the top, but this setup is working nicely. I think I may need to put in another air hole to maximize the vapor, but...
New wick and coil soaked. It's finally vaping very nicely. Great vapor and flavor. The trick was getting the coil right next to the air holes. Yes, I'm an RBA noob. Only thing now is that I'm holding it so that the air holes and coil are facing down, which may cause leaking, but I can deal with...
I think the wick is fine, this wick has been the smallest of the lot. I'm using this on a Vamo. This coil is 2.6 ohms, running around 8 - 8.5 watts. Reading a comment on one of the youtube vids suggest unscrewing the RBA a little to position the air holes closer to the coil. That definitely made...
Tried another new coil and it worked a little better, but the same result after a while. I think they teach this in vaping 101, but I should have suspected the juice. It's a darker juice given to the gunk, I think that might have been the problem, still not sure. I proceeded to make a new wick...
Here is my coil and you can see how one side is burnt/gunked up and the right side is not. Do you have any suggestions on modifying this coil, or should I just do a dry burn and try again with a longer soak time?
That is some great info. I'll definitely keep trying with the Dream. The Dream is basically a clone of the Fatty RBA, pic included. Not much space in there and you do have be mindful of the airhole, like you said. I just need to keep experimenting with longer wick, longer soak time, coil...
Thanks for your help. I tried the cotton wicks on the vivi nova and a Dream RBA, which is a dripping rebuildable. Let the juice soak on both before I tried. The cotton wick on the vivi nova is great. Lots of flavor and vapor. The dripping RBA didn't work so well. In the Dream RBA the wick isn't...
I bought some cotton rounds today, but they aren't the kind that I think I need. The cotton is inside a cotton "shell". The middle picture is after they had been boiled. They look like white potato chips. Has anyone tried these?
Right, right. Guess I'll make the plug and buy a few since they are rather inexpensive. Have any suggestions on good brands or stores to buy them from?
