Ike, make sure the wick isn't too thick, thinner is better (I'm sure you already checked this). When I build on my Kayfun, I build the coil on a diagonal to the deck as opposed to perpendicular, so that if the wick was cut to the length of just touching the channel deck it would be touching...
from what I know of the anodizing process, that might be the better to have because the process leaves the surface more inert than without. I'm assuming they anodized it because of possible off flavor from the heating process. Lots of aluminum cookware comes anodized because of this. The real...
Any experience with setting up a micro coil with mesh on one? I followed riptrippers tutorial with the cotton mesh hybrid and it was great food about 2 days then I started having weird tastes with it. Wondering about using a thicker solid wick and wrapping with 1/16 instead of 5/64. Any...
Moody, it's always worth the time, for that pat on the back moment! But yeah, I know what you're saying. So many retailers on line selling them but the prices vary wildly.
Guess I have to do some comparison shopping tomorrow.
I've been using my kraken more than anything, but I just...
+1 on the fasttech SS clone. I added an o-ring to the bottom for the outer sleeve because I didn't like the way it wiggled. I also took out one of the o-rings from the top cap because it was a bear to adjust the airholes with both o-rings in it. Currently using single 30g coil on mesh @ 1.2...
anybody out there figure out a way to make the insulator sleeve on the positive pin for a PT2? I did a search and nothing came up. I would think there HAS to be a way to make one of these out of wire insulation or something. Just don't feel like ordering a set of insulators online.
It must be something to do with rebuilding the protank 2, but my pt2 doesn't want to draw at all on the vtr. Anyone else have this problem? I even tried drilling out the airholes on the base of the tank but still no luck. BTW, I have the newer vtr with the solid base.
something I found with mesh is I need to burn it off REALLY well after rolling it because I end up getting a lot of dead skin on it from the process of twisting and rolling with my calloused fingers(that sounds weird, I know). For the first few times I built my kraken, I couldn't figure out...
I have to agree here-cotton seems to give a bit of a better taste on my gennie, and mesh can be a little daunting if you don't have your technique down. As far as a "set it and forget it" on my RBA I like the mesh.
I used a brass punch on the inside and tapped it out with a deadblow while holding the tank cover, once I got a good gap I used a thin screwdriver to make the gap larger until it came apart-no problem with nicks or gouges (thank you stainless!), although the process took forever. I didnt like...
So I was thinking about getting a lavatube and then I see this article saying it has been rebranded as the thundevolt. What's the deal people? Anyone have any info about this? Is it just a ripoff of the lavatube? A scam?
I am honestly interested in getting info on this but haven't seen much...
