I just realized today that I have been back to vaping for 10weeks. (first go around was in 08/09).
First of all - im still smoking a little but Ive cut back a lot. From 2 packs a day to a half pack or less a day. It was 7 today. And has been as little as 3 some days.
Ive spent 490 bucks so far on my batteries, juice and other equipment. If I had continued my 2 pack a day habit I would have spent $680 bucks. I have not "saved" money - but I am much happier and much healthier. And I have enough juice and backups to last me 3-4 months if need be. Im definately ahead! (yes my spelling is bad)
I have only converted one smoker to vaping. My boyfriend. He has cut his smoking from 2-2 1/2 packs (sometimes 3) to about 1. He is doing just great.
I am really taking this slow and I am in no hurry but the vaping bug has become somewhat of an obsession. I am encouraging that obsession in the hopes that it pays off in further reductions to my smoking. All the cool kids vape and I am always part of the cool kid crowd
I have even started eyeing provaris but I dont need one.
I had my first smoking dream tonight - thats why I am here instead of in bed. I dreamed I was jonesing for a smoke and, in the way of dreams, my cigarette and PV were one in the same. I lit the pv like a cigarette but I was only vaping!
For all the newbie vapers out there - dont give up. If you have cut back on smoking, even if it is just a little, you have already laid the ground work for even more success in the future.
As for saving money - vaping does save money. but you really have to ask if that is a worth while goal. It might seem like the best motivation - but money flows out. So as soon as you have some - it has somewhere else to go. Rather than saving money - I advocate the motivation of just having fun in life. Dont worry about the money right off the bat. You have probably spent decades spending money on smoking. Dont get cheap with vaping. give your self permission to use that cig money to explore the FUN in vaping. As you get used to the equipment, as you find juices that you like and feel more comfortable with vaping all around - you will stop spending so much money on it. Then you will see the improvement in your finances.
but in the mean time - you will have transitioned into something new and had FUN doing it instead of setting about it with grim determination.
I think thats why so many other methods fail - its really not that hard to get off nicotine. Ive done it 4 times in my life and all times I have quit cold turkey.
Dang - thats simply NO FUN. Staying off was no fun either. I really enjoy the ritual of smoking - vaping. Not just the equipment but the value I have placed in making a little head space when I smoke / vape. When I take 10 minutes and smoke or vape I have trained myself to expect a few minutes of pleasure and meditation. getting off that reward system is much harder than getting off the nicotine. that reward system is FUN for me.
So thats my line for the newbie vapers - do it because its FUN. Live it because its FUN. Value what you do and don be ashamed to spend a little on having FUN.
