I have my setup basically configured. My ProVari, 3 different tanks, about 10 boxes of cartos. However, my juice supply is running low, I just bought and Kanger ProTank and a bunch of heads, I just bought my girl a vision spinner, an evod and a bunch of heads plus juice. I need to buy some more supplies from WizardLabs so I can start DIY again, I just spent about 90 dollars on different vendors trying out some new juice recommendations, I am looking at a 125 dollar Nintendo Controller Mod (which I don't need but want). AND I'm trying to slowly stock up on Nicotine case of the vapeocalpyse. I have also gotten into RBA's, so I just spent 35 dollars on some steel mesh, some kanthal wire, silica wicks and some other random stuff. I really need to curb my spending. A lot of my pay check goes to vaping stuff and I work an 8 dollar an hour job as a student. *sigh* Good thing I live at home.

Each person who vapes should be clear with themselves how much they want to spend, if they intent to save money from analogs (instead of spending more than they did when they smoked analogs), etc.
Personally, one of the MAIN reasons I switched to vaping was to save money (and health too, of course). That being said, although I DO love vaping, and DO consider it a hobby, I won't spend more than $75 a month, MAX. That includes everything related to vaping, e-liquids as well.
I spent about $150 on analogs every month, so as long as I only spend $75month/less on vaping (that means I save $75 every month) I'm happy.
Some people don't care HOW much they spend on vaping, because they enjoy it, they have the money to spend, and they are just so happy to be vaping and not smoking. I think that is perfectly fine!
Personally, that is not my case. Vaping is DEFINITELY a hobby for me, don't get me wrong, but I'm happy with using my ego twists, evods/pro tanks, and just getting a few e-liquids eevery month
Like I said at the beginning of this post.....every one who vapes should determine ahead of time how much they want to spend every month, and make sure you don't go over it!
I know I have spent a lot of money on vaping but I am OK with that. Up front I spent a lot but that was because I was still trying to find out what worked for me. After four months I have settled on a eGo-V V2 Mega with a kanger t3 for when I am out and about and an eVic with a kanger pro tank for when I am around the house. All in all I have spent 500+ since January but it doesn't matter since I haven't had an analog since then.
I live in NY State so analogs are at least 9 a pack. I have the benefit of living 30 minutes from a reservation so before I quit I was buying cartons of analogs for 20-30.
Basically I think up front vaping costs more. But I can buy 50ml of juice for 11 dollars and it will last me almost a week. So for me its about the same cost now. However if I compare it to retail prices for brand name smokes I am saving about 50 dollars a week.

I've spent tons of money on tanks, batteries, mods, spinners, juices, but I onsider it a hobby and also a means to an end when it comes to analogs. shame i just started watching mad men, i light up whenever they do on the show -_-

I finally quit smoking on 3/29/13, so I'm counting all purchases made this year (calling the previous two years of half-time vaping a learning experience). I break even sometime in August, but have supplies for DIY on hand until July of 2014.. and plenty of delivery methods, replacement heads, etc, etc.. I'm sure my BE date will change by a few days here and there as I make my little purchases every few weeks from now on.

Moving to DIY liquid has saved me enough to justify my purchases. Thanks to trades, inexpensive co-ops and newer mechanical mods, I've spent less than $250 in the first four months of the year, including five mechanical mods and 750ml of 60mg nic liquid. My wife and I would have spent over $900 on cigarettes over that time.
If we vaping hobbyists can summon up a tiny bit of self control, we should be able to come up saving money. For those who rolled their own and smoked little in a low tax state, the savings may not be there, just the health and fun.

I'm not saving money really but that's due to my choice or experimenting and trying new juice and new mods.
I'm getting to a point where I'm comfortable with the stuff I have. My plan is to only get what I need and not go into the (Oooo shiny object) impulse buying anymore

Great point! Health insurance is a lot more for smokers, and rightfully so. I can't wait for the day when I can honestly say I haven't used tobacco products in the last year.
Discipline. I save money big time by building my own AAA battery mods and sticking with one type of tank cartomizer. I make my own juice. I even occasionally buy ego replacements. I've gone from $6 a day to less than $2 a day.

The first 2 months of FT vaping I spent more vaping then cigs.....But after learning how to rebuild attys + make eliquid I've saved a lot the last 7 months. I barely spend anything now unless I buy a new mod every month (own 9 apv's in 9 months of FT vaping).
In the 10 weeks or so since my wife and I have quit smoking and started vaping, we've saved around $800 on cigarettes and spent around $250 on vaping supplies. Part of that expense was buying spare parts so that we are prepared to lower our monthly vaping budget this summer. We are happy with what we have, and don't feel the need to start collecting. Nevertheless when I've quit for a year, I'm going to reward myself with an eVic or something like it. I know my wife, she'll say she's happy with her eGo and doesn't want anything else, but at the least I'll get her a Twist.
There's nothing wrong with making a hobby of vaping as long as you can afford it. Hobbies are good. Mine are gardening, bicycling, and hunting for artifacts, all of which are cheap.

Yeah, I can think of plenty other hobbies that are uber expensive in comparison to vaping. My 4x4 addiction being one. Nothing like buying expensive parts for your rig just so you can punish and pish the limits of said part, probably break it and come home, get on the internet in search of better more expensive parts. Rinse and repeat. 
Anyways, I like to buy new vaping things, and it has gotten outnof hand a few times but for the most part I stick to a budget =< my cigarette habit cost me, so at the least I break even. I have found my sweet spot though recently and spending has dropped way off.

Yea I was looking forward to that too. Unfortunately I found out though, that youll still be considered a tobacco user even if you're just using NRT products, including the patch and nicorette. It's totally unfair, but thats insurance for ya! That's what they do...
If you go to zero nic though, and maintain it for a year, then you should be ok.
Yea, any delusions I may have had about cost savings are quickly vanishing. I'm five times over what I used to spend on cigs and I'm only a a few weeks in. The way I see it, (and how I justify my spending to the hubs) this just makes me more committed to the cause.

I spend a lot on vape stuff.. The cool thing is, I sell it when I get tired of it or don't like it. Luckily I live in a heavy populated area where ecigs are blowing up. Especially at work. 3 months ago, everyone was smoking cigs ok smoke break.
Now there is a circle of 5 smokers and the other 30 ppl are vaping.
I have JUST about hit the sweet spot. Found a tank I absolutely love. The juice I have is pretty damn good but i still want to try something new. I get tired of juice quick though, even if its really good.
Now that I have my unit going good, and get all the parts and accessories color coordinated, ill spend an average of $25 a week on my unit. $20 for juice and $5 for a wick. Now that I've found I can make my wick last over a week by properly cleaning my tank, ill probably spend around $20 a week or less.
A bottle of juice lasts me just under 2 weeks. I will buy 1 per week just to he safe.
Now there is a circle of 5 smokers and the other 30 ppl are vaping.
