I'm apparently allergic to PG, probably flavorings that are made with PG, and maybe some flavorings. Bummer, huh? Well, I've been trying to mix some that I hope will work for me but not sure what I'm doing, other than a little info and a mixing calculator gathered so far. So if anyone can answer: 1) How much distilled water should be mixed w/VG so it's a good consistency (not too thick) for cartomizer health? 2) What percentage of VG (w/water included) to a percentage of total flavorings works best? In other words, I'm guessing about 75% VG w/ water to 25% flavorings. Yes? No? Maybe? Thanks.l

I too am allergic to PG. When I DIY I usually use 20% to 25% flavorings and 10% to 15% distilled water. But it varies depending on the flavor too. The higher the % of flavorings the less water you will need to add to get the right viscosity. You can get PG free flavorings at naturesflavors. I haven't tried them yet but hear they are very good. :)

I'm allergic to PG too! Not fun! I tried mixing my own and that ended with a lot of frustration. I only buy juice from Johnson Creek, Red Oak line and EcoPure from CigNot. Both have guaranteed me there is NO PG in their juice. I have been using them both for over 2 years with no problems. Yeah! Best of luck to you!

Thanks everybody. When I first started vaping my head hurt at the back and sometimes on the top but I thought it was just a stress headache or a nic withdrawel symptom. Then I got a rash on my stomach. I started paying more attention to how I felt when vaping and realized my sinuses were acting up and I just didn't feel great. Am just now trying to eliminate all PG -- which is hard because most flavors are made with it.

By the way, thanks for all the tips. I did try one cart w/Johnson Creek from their Red Oak line and liked it but wasn't sure whether or not I was reacting to it. Felt a little light-headed. I was going to order a sample pack to really give it a good try, but the sampler only comes in 12 or 18mg (can't remember which but think it was 18mg), which hit me too hard. Surprisingly, I do ok on zero nic -- can't handle anything I've tried in over 6mg.

I currently use only VG in my mixes. My mixes are 90% VG (30% of which is 52 mg / ml nic juice), 5% distilled water, and 5% everclear. They work great. I add flavors only after I mix VG, water, and everclear together. It makes life a lot easier :p I mix 30 mls total, put a couple mls (2 - 5) in a separate bottle, and then add some flavors.

I assume VG is alcohol soluble, so it would probably be best thinned with pure grain alcohol (PGA). The amount will vary based on the juice, obviously, so there's no perfect formula. You can also use distilled water, but you may need to shake the bottle well each time, as water and oil don't really mix as well.

Alcohol may also add throat hit, which you may or may not prefer. Water will evaporate slower, so if you add too much, you're going to wait a lot longer for it to reduce, before it's usable again.

I'd say, grab a bottle of grain, add about 2 drops to 6ml of juice, shake well, try a bit, and add more as needed. Once you get the grasp of how much it takes, you'll be thinning it blindfolded.

Gosh -- you all are great. Can't tell you how much appreciate all the suggestions. Have been trying so hard to get this all straightened out so I can move on to other things -- guessing at amounts just made it take longer. Should have posted in here first. Next thing to find is some excellent 100% VG recipes. Should we start another thread?

I DIY my e-liquid, have ever since I started. Recently I joined the NO FLAVOR ADDED group. I vaped only Cinnamon flavor, and started having issues. Now, I vape a blend of Nic, VG, & PGA. Presently using 15% Nic, 55% VG, & 30% PGA. My Nic has PG as base. Less PGA and I start having coil clogging issues. I couldn't get straight VG to work very long, clogged my coils too quickly. I'm C-E2 coil based. JMHO

Cheers,
