Hello,

I'm not sure I understand if there was an answer to the OP's question. Was it determined the trustfire charger (same one I have) is junk or that the ultrafire batts were junk? If the charger is a cruddy charger for these 10440 batts what should a person get? If the ultrafire batts tend to be bad, what should a person get?

Thanks.

Hi skydragon, the charger is fine, in fact i would recommend them to anyone, i have had lots of different chargers and this is the only one i have never replaced.

I'm afraid it turns out its a bit of a lottery when it comes to these batteries, but in saying that they are really cheap to replace, as for a better 10440, i don't think we have many choices at the moment, so here's hoping we all get a good batch :)

Hi womblebat,

Thank you for replying. My problem is I don't know if it is the batteries (4), the charger or the e-cig. But if you had nine of them go, I guess I can have all four of mine be bad. Thanks again.

Yes, I think Macta had post the forum about batteries.

Macta, please HELP!!!

I don't know much if anything about this size battery, other then it is really small the size of a AAA. I was going to suggest the Pila IBC charger, but read this in the manual:

1. What size cells does it charge and what doesn't it charge?

RCR123, *10440, 14500, 14670, 16340, 17500, 17670, 18500, 14500 up to 18650. It can handle cells up through 18mm diameter at least and 65-68mm in length, so 18650 on the large end.

*Don't run 10440 cells below 3.8 volts resting. The Pila IBC has a maximum charge rate of 600 mA, and the 10440 cells are about 320 mAh, so approaching 2C on a fully empty cell, but if the cell is around half full, the voltage will quickly climb to 4.2 volts and then the current will quickly drop off. Don’t charge an empty (3.3 volts resting) 10440 cell with it, but if it is closer to half empty, it is pushing things, but still will be reasonably safe. The 10440 cell suffer a loss of cycle life by doing this, but that may be acceptable to some.
--------------------------------------------------------------
In the Pila charger manual, this 10440 battery type is hi-lited in red text, and the NOTE ABOVE. Since this $50.00 charger has no problem with the other types or special notes, I would begin to wonder about why this type is different and NEEDS special attention? While it is always possible to get a bad batch of anything, it would be very odd to have that many be "bad". Looked at the thread quickly, did not note the brand of the battery, or the charger that was used, and how many times they were charged. If you must use this size battery, you might try the AW batteries, or even the more expensive Pila brand. Wish you the best!

So far my experience has been that everyone has been happy with the 10430 e-Cigar batteries that I sell. Yes their rating is "low" but they are more honestly rated than the 500mAh batteries which don't seem to last very long (longevity wise). All the UltraFire/TrustFire batteries are over-rated really.

I think I've had one or two 10430's reported bad so far...and I've sold about 100+.

I had a look on candle power forums and most suggest using the nano charger for 10440's. Also if using the Trust Fire TR-001 multifunctional charger it's best to charge two cells at the same time to lower the charging rate :)

Thats interesting too Obie!! 2 batteries at a time, ok:)
