Hey all,

I'd just like to see if there's anyone that can shed any light on the difference between the AW IMR vs the "xxxxxfire" PCB types out there,in regards to the 14500 series batteries...I tend to think that if your gonna be using LR atties (1.5Ω-2Ω) you should seriously consider the AW IMR line of battery, reason being that it can output 4A verses the 1.45A available output on the PCB types...

I believe this is only true for the 14500 series. All of the larger 18650 "xxxxxxFire" brands seem to put out more than enough Amps to cover all of our vaping needs. That is unless someone comes out with a mega 3LR atty setup,LOL...

If your running a 3.7v battery with a 1.5Ω atty doesn't that atty draw 2.47A? So wouldn't running a battery that can only supply 1.45A defeat the purpose of using the LR atty? Besides the fact that you would be over stressing the battery? ie:applying the formula V/R=A or (3.7v÷1.5Ω) = 2.47A The workload is greater than the carrying capacity of the battery (xxxxxfire14500 900mah).

On the other hand if your sole intension is to use that battery with a regular 2.8+Ω atty, the out come would be totaly different and within it's limitation ie: (3.7v/2.8Ω) = 1.32A

see link: Everything there is to know about AW batteries

Just curious to see if any of you have tried both the "Red" AW IMR14500 600mah as well as the xxxxxfire14500 900mah and what your experience was ? Does the IMR hit better than the other ? Technically it should...

I'm hoping to score a reo mini in the future and would like to know which battery works best. It seems reo suggests the PCB type but I can't understand why? I currently have 4 new Trustfire14500 900mah PCB type that i've purchased in preparation for the mini. But now i'm thinking I should get me some AW IMR's ... any thoughts? For what its worth I guess having both wouldn't be such a bad investment...

Thanks folks, sorry for the ramble :)

My research into this topic pulled up info from Switched, Iken, Cisco and David Yang (Eastmall) along with battery university. An LR atty on a 14500 or smaller battery stresses it out too much and can cause premature battery failure; IMR's are the way to go. With 18650's the reading indicates the IMR doesn't make as much of a difference and PCB li-ons should be fine.

Thanks Clyde. I post this info about once a week. It gets tiresome at times especially when folks do not wish to see the light. No offense intended to anyone. ECF is a large forum with lots of members and new comers weekly. Dispelling rumours is time consuming once they have set in. e.g using LRs on eGos. BTW it was an uninformed vendor that started the rumour. hey they are human too :)

Thanks Switched, and thanks for your help last week. I actually tried using some ultrafire 18650s after the research, before then I would use nothing but aw high drains. I think I may still prefer them a bit, but it could be a placebo effect. I can't tell a vast difference between them and the red 3000mah ultrafires.

Outside of longevity, you should not see any difference in vape, as both batts can produce the required current to adequately fire the attys. That being said, when we compare AWs against AWs, a 2600mAh batt will indeed outlast any 1600mAh batt any day of the week and 3 times on Sunday. The latter is from someone more versed than myself, .... it does make sense.
