150W+ Dual 18650 Devices

Hi all, I've made this thread to find out more about Battery amp limits in regulated mods.
I'm wanting to know about this because I have an alien 220w mod and soon will have, a tfv8 cloud beast tank.
I am currently using the Baby beast version and am pulling around 21.50 AMPS at 70 WATTS firing a 0.162 OHM coil.
Mooch has claimed that the VTC6 battery can be used up to 75 Watts safely but that would mean I could only go up to 150 Watts or can I use the tank (the cloud beast(big version)) at 220Watts?

Hello and Welcome. Depending on the battery 150w is correct, 220w is doubtful.
Safe practice is Volts X Volts ÷ Resistance = Watts
The regulated device shares the Amps.

You can dial it up to 220 just fine you won’t ACTUALLY get 220 out of it though. Batteries can’t give you more than they got. Wattage inflation is done by assuming outputs that current batteries simply can’t supply. This may change in the future but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting

At the power devices low voltage cutoff battery amp demand will be highest.
Resistance isn't a factor when calculating battery amp drain using a regulated power device.
(as long as the resistance is within the devices operating range)

The battery low voltage cutoff of the alien 220w is rather low, 2.78v - 2.81v, so I use 2.8v per cell when determining max wattage / cell amp draw.

Just me,
IF I were going to regularly use 150w + with a 2 cell device I'd use 25a CDR cells.

I'm not sure I'd go higher you are going to run into diminishing returns (probably on the taste and well being of your e-juice, amount of juice you run through, battery life and strain on the mod). Regardless of how fantastic your batteries are, I look at the highest watt setting rather like my speedometer, mine might say my car will go up to 200 miles per hour, but I'm never going to get there. Pushing your mod and batteries that hard will do nothing but increase the likelihood that your mod will last for less time, your batteries will be stressed and not run well, and your coils, juice, and everything else will suffer.

If you need to go higher on wattage (you shouldn't, but eh) you need a two or three battery mod, IMO. Smoke does make one-- the G4, if you decide you are interested in that.

The big questions are, how long can you push a battery at max output before it can no longer safely supply that high amperage demand and must be replaced? Batteries start to degrade immediately and even quicker under high demand use, at what point do they become dangerous? Are you willing to take that gamble? Can you afford to replace the batteries on a regular basis?
