Okay... I just got my first Mech in the mail at work today (A KTS clone and Kanger Protank from FT). I have a question, as I'm going to be going into RBA's later in the year (as I have a ISH ton of Vivi Nova tanks).

I'm looking into getting a Kick with the battery, and fasttech has multiple batteries (both flat and button top), and I'm curious as to which one to get..fasttech doesn't really answer it for me, and I figure the vets here can help me with an answer....

Do I need the Extension tube to use a KICK with a 18650 battery in the KTS (link below)?

Additionally, if I can't do the above, will these batteries cause major drop offs in performance without a KICK (as this is going to be my stay at home RBA when I'm ready)?

Any help is appreciated....

The kick will work with a 18500 or 18350 not an 18650 unfortunately. With an 18350 the battery won't work long with a kick it stops letting you use the battery when it still has about 3.7v left.

Edit... 18650 wont fit in a kts with a kick

Awesome...that answered exactly what I needed to know...I guess I will have to try it out KICK-less.

One more question...would a protection chip be a good investment for this? (Sorry, I couldn't find a link at the moment)

Oh and get a multimeter and always stick with the best batteries
Multimeter? Check....
Batteries, which brands? AW? EFest? any "fire" branded ones?

Sorry. . .now I feel I'm getting deep real fast going into RBA's...but this is an entirely new direction for me as I've recoiled and wicked some of my own Novas over the past year...

Legend...Thank you for the link..I guess my RBA future will begin with the batteries...

quick update. . .I got ahead of myself and tried my KTS with my eVic battery, a flat top Sanyo 18650.....Fits like a glove!

I guess my battery search ends there. . .I guess it's time to do more ordering on Fasttech...RSST ot AGA-T, here I come!

Again...thank you to who chimed in with their input...seriously...

No problem man..

Im not familiar with the evic baterries but to my knowledge they are ICRs.. Stick with IMR batteries or even the panasonic hybrids like CGRs for the amp draw.. Just to name a couple stick with AW 18650 1600mah (the 2000mah is fine but has lower internals, i think it only has around 8amp constant output which the 1600mah are around 10-12amps) and the Panasonic CGR18650CH.. Always do the math.. Make sure you build coils that is within the limitations of your battery.. My :2c:

As for RBAs, i would stick with the RSST.. Easier to start with IMO.. But i do love both of those gennys.. Lots of trial and error.. Lol! Good luck man! Hope this one helps too..

Looks like other people gave you good answers to your questions, so I'll give you a little tip on improving the performance of your KTS. Grab a couple little pieces of sand paper. Sanding the chrome plating off of a couple of places really helps in fighting the voltage drop from this mod. Mainly the bottom of the top cap where it makes contact with the battery and the post under the spring and the part of the switch that makes contact to this post. You want to get the brass exposed in these places as it is much more conductive than the chrome plating. I got an extra 0.2v under load after sanding these spots on mine, a nice little gain for 2 mins of work.

Thank you everyone...

I was just eager to try to Protank and the KTS, as this is another stay at home mod for me. The battery was just to see what the deal is on mechs. I've always been about the VV or VW mods (which is why i got an eVic and MVP), but I just want to be more rounded in vaping, as most of my friends have jumped ship, but a majority stay with eGo twists with CE4 clearos, then start to complain about not having enough battery through the day. I've been into local vape shops where I get the stinkface when I say I already got a mod, and I don't bother with RDA's. I didn't say I was against RBA's, but they immediately turn around..but that's a totally different post altogether.

sailense - It's why I'm getting started on learning more. It's more learning for me, and I'm all about knowledge and empowering ones
self...but then again, that's another rant for another day/time.

Legend - Thank you for that link for Fasttech. Was getting confused the the appropriate battery for the KTS. I've added it to my wishlist, and now I'm up to 10 items for my birthday "surprise" for myself!

HughDaHand - I was looking into that. I figure I would get into better connections and fine tuning when I have a set (batteries, extra tank or RBA) for the KTS (still debating on an RSST or AGA-T2). Or a "Flavor Station" using my Novas as knockaround tanks in my music studio next to the dj equipment...or at least within reach of the Dj equipment, away from the expensive stuff.

Thank you again....YOU GUYS ROCK. . .and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise! :2cool:
