Whatever you buy get it from a reputable source. eBay is not reputable. fasttech takes forever for batteries.

It is fairly simple to take any cell and stick a new wrap on it. It is a good deal for the sleeze who takes some cheap battery and puts a sleeve that looks like Sony on it.

It is getting hard to find a reputable dealer with VTC batteries. I would be very careful getting them.

This 1000x. When dealing with batteries you want to make sure you are getting them from a reputable source. Not only for your safety but for the people around you. If it's too good to be true, you got yaself a pipebomb waiting to happen.

Like has been said, determine what CDR battery you need then only buy from reputable vendors / dealers.

You won't find any authentic Sony VTC5's.
The fakers are making improvements in the commonly known visual clues used to identify fakes making them harder to spot.

One member had a supposedly authentic vtc5 vent with a 4.2 amp load in a regulated APV recently.
An authentic vtc5 even in rough shape will handle a 4.2amp load from 4.2v to dead and not vent.
