Where can you buy these? are they all rechargeable?
Best to buy these from a trusted e-cig vendor like RTD Vapor Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor. (see link below)

They are rechargeable, but there are two classes of these batteries: Protected (Li-ion) and IMR (Li-Mn) (also called high drain or unprotected batteries).

Which type or class of 18650 battery to purchase depends upon your intended application:

  • Mechanical mod - you can use either protected Li-ion or IMR Li-Mn batteries in these. You will get longer battery time with the protected battery, but certain applications require an IMR high drain battery. This would be if you use a Kick, or an RBA/RDA. Sub ohm coils require an IMR battery that has a continuous amperage of 20+, which only a few IMR batteries do (see link). Overall, IMR batteries are generally considered to be a safer battery than protected ICR/NCR batteries.

  • Regulated mod - these have a boost circuit in the processor to regulate the voltage higher or lower. These require the IMR high drain batteries for their ability to deliver maximum load current. Regulated mods also have built-in protection which will refuse to fire a heating coil if it detects an unsafe situation, such as a short circuit in the system or if the user setting is too high amperage for the resistance of the coil attached.

I've made a user's guide for the batteries that we use in vaping. Use this as a resource to learn more about batteries:

18650 is a form factor, doesn't have to be rechargeable or even lithium based.

The battery code is supposed to be it's dimensions...
18350 is 18mm by 35mm
18490 is 18mm by 49mm
18500 is 18mm by 50mm
18650 is 18mm by 65mm

Beware tho that the sizes vary, have a look around and you'll see that some of the big capacity 18650's are longer than 65mm, so might not fit in your mod.

The Battery University is a great place to start reading for research.

Lots of places sell them, Amazon, Fasttech, Ebay, discountvapers...... Just be sure you know what you need, I got some Panasonic from FT coming but then someone said there not so good, so do your homework really good first, I thought I had.[/QUOTE

You will always be safe when using...

Until you unwittingly put it into a dodgy charger...

This may also be of interest to ya'll

There are some who believe Panasonics are superior to AW : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...igh-drain-version-part-1-a-3.html#post8861675

That comes from the guy at Orbtronic, so YMMV. I think they are probably on par with AW.

I believe it was Baditude who posted "never buy a battery with 'fire' in its name" :)

have heard a lot about the AW, These 18650 and 18350 still confuse me on the brands and all however.
We can help. What battery device are you using (mechanical or regulated). And what application ( juice delivery attachment) are you using? What batteries are you currently using?

Panasonic NCR18650PD 18650 3.6V 2900mAH Rechargeable Li-ion is the ones I got.
If these are the green -PD series, they are one of the new "hybrid" batteries that are both protected and high drain. I don't know much about them, but being manufactured by Panasonic I'm sure they're great batteries. These should be a pretty nice all-purpose battery

RTD has pictures of all of their batteries on one page that you can view here: http://www.rtdvapor.com/online-store/batteries

ok misinformation here.
the fasttech panny's are authentic i have 6, the 2900pd last almost 3 days in my provari. and close to 2 days in my mech, they are definitely the same battery I bought from orbtronics.( a very well known battery dealer)

AW is a trusted brand for APV's

almost all of the high drain panasonics have a 10 amp continuous discharge with an 18 amp peak for 5-6 seconds

I am testing the 3400 panny now.but it is not high drain and care must be taken to not exceed 6 amps.

I would be careful when buying off ebay and amazon, while there are vendors with the real deal, several people have reported getting used, relabeled and fakes.

the sony is a nice battery if you plan on pushing the wattage in a standard setup sacrificing mah isnt worth the extra amperage.

MNKE is rated as one of the better higher wattage batteries for mechs..

while others may have different opinions. I do not trust the other brands. a couple people have posted meltdowns of that "fire" brand and an efest literally exploded in a flashlight (pics on candlepowerforums)

we push a lot of current through our batteries on a regular daily basis and the extra dollar or two is worth it knowing we are using topnotch proven and safer batteries.
