So I have a Wismec Presa mod and while I liked the size and the battery life was ok, th atty threading has stripped after only 5 months. I'm in the market for a new vv/vw mod and I'm debating between 18650 and 26650. I run a .6 ohm Nichrome coil at about 24w and would like better battery life than my Samsung 25r gives me. However, I don't want to carry a brick as in the size of the mod. I've been looking at the SXK Zero mini and the Encom TNT80. Any help would be appreciated.

I love my Encom TNT80! It's quite small for a 26650 mod. It's a little hefty though, but I like it cause it feels very solid.

Well first off, I'll start by saying that the 25R's are notorious for horrendous battery life. If you are cloud chasing, which I do, they work great but when it comes to being used in box mods or circuit based mods, they are not optimal. Consider that as that may be a huge contributor to a lack of battery life! Second, with newer Era batteries being released, 26650 batteries are becoming obsolete in terms of battery life and amperage rating. If I were you, I'd consider either a dual 18650 mod like the IPV3 or a single battery mod like the IPV3 D2 and carry and extra battery. Pair those with an IMREN 3000mah 40 amp battery or an MXJO 35amp battery and you'll be chilling all day at 30 watts on 2 batteries easy! Hope this helps! :)

You have a good point there but, anything smaller than the IPV with dual 18650? That IPV is huge!

It is indeed big but is also easy to get used to! However that is why I suggested the D2! Its extremely small, handles any tank and most drippers, and also has TC. Its under 50$ and also includes TC! I currently own 5 and dont regret buying a single one!

I was very interested in the D2 before it came out but after it came out and does not use micro USB for charging I decided to look elsewhere. I have several items that charge through micro USB and don't want to carry MORE cables for charging than I have to. Lol

I've been wondering since it states in the description 5000mah but doesn't actually come with a battery if that is a capable mah? What type of setup do you have on it and what battery? How long does the battery last you?

AHA to be honest, i would personally carry several batteries and charge them all on a normal 18650 charger. much faster, much better for the batteries, and far safer for the mod!

But why is it ok to charge a lipo internal through the mod but not an 18650? I don't get that. I know that a separate charger is better for heat and such but I'm trying to cut down on things I need to carry. I don't want to have to carry a charger, it's cord, and 4 batteries.

Imren Yellow 40A 2000mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...a decent 20A battery, may be an HD2

MXJO Yellow/Silver 35A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...only a 15A-20A battery, but near an HG2

26650's obsolete?
MNKE Orange 30A 3500mAh 26650 Bench Test Results...a 25A+, 3500mAh battery

Keeppower Black 30A/50A 4200mAh 26650 Bench Test Results...only 20A, but high-capacity

Good links. When I quoted Imren, I was not referring to the yellows! In my teststests, which was using three mah purples in which rested In both a box mod and mech mod, they were consistently the longest lasting readily available battery. As far as the MXJO'S I have used those for over a year now and the outputs I have received from the battery has proved to be well over 30 amps!

I say 26650's are obsolete as its easy to find 18650 who's specs are just as high as them at half the price and size. 650's work great, there just harder to find, much larger, and aren't all that much better performance wise!

Lipo batteries have been used for years with internal chargering IE rc cars and helicopters and remote controls, where as 18650's aren't designed to be charged In that fashion. i also find that internal charging can effect the mod and cause chip malfunctions or fried wires from surges of input while charging. I vape consistently a bottle a day and if carry 2-3 Batts on me, I'm set. No need to carry a charger.

Do they make lipo in an 18650 form factor? You'd think that would be the next step in the evolution right?

Please share your tests results for the MXJO.

I've never seen them available for consumer purchase. The only time I've ever seen them used was in the original vaporshark DNA20. And I apologize for any spelling errors or grammar, I'm typing on my phone!

Lipo batteries are not safe-chemistry. If they go into thermal runaway (venting), they vent hot gas, flames, and may actually explode. The only thing protecting them in a mod is the circuit protection of the processor.

IMR batteries are safer chemistry. They may still vent gas in thermal runaway, but they are not likely to vent flames or explode.
