Lipo batteries are not safe-chemistry. If they go into thermal runaway (venting), they vent hot gas, flames, and may actually explode. The only thing protecting them in a mod is the circuit protection of the processor.

IMR batteries are safer chemistry. They may still vent gas in thermal runaway, but they are not likely to vent flames or explose.

I will absolutely +1 that. I know mods like the variant and the vaporshark use them however they are volatile pieces of equipment and I don't feel safe using them!

Well first off, I'll start by saying that the 25R's are notorious for horrendous battery life. If you are cloud chasing, which I do, they work great but when it comes to being used in box mods or circuit based mods, they are not optimal. Consider that as that may be a huge contributor to a lack of battery life! Second, with newer Era batteries being released, 26650 batteries are becoming obsolete in terms of battery life and amperage rating. If I were you, I'd consider either a dual 18650 mod like the IPV3 or a single battery mod like the IPV3 D2 and carry and extra battery. Pair those with an IMREN 3000mah 40 amp battery or an MXJO 35amp battery and you'll be chilling all day at 30 watts on 2 batteries easy! Hope this helps! :)

I have a Encom TNT 80, Sigelei 150 TC and just got a Wismec Reuleaux DNA 200 about a week ago.

I really like them all but the Wismec is a crazy nice piece and the triple 18650's last a day or 2 with no problem. My TNT 80 is my road dog though as it works great and my efest 4200 mah 26650 get me through a day and a half usually. I like the sig but the small size and durability of the TNT 80 is why it comes on the road with me, for the low price if it hits the floor I won't shed a tear, I would be ballin like a baby if the Wismec crashed to the ground

If money was a concern I could happily just have my TNT 80 and not regret having the other 2. I am not a big fan of TC anyway, if your careful kanthal or SS coils on just power are a more enjoyable vape for me. I actually use the TNT more than the other 2 everyday and don't regret it, it has never let me down. I do love holding and using the Wismec though, fantastic mod and pricey but worth it.

Do you like the SS better than Kanthal? How does it last? I'm considering switching to SS.

I actually probably prefer kanthal for longevity. I only have SS coils on the Crown and my first coil didn't last long but the flavor is good. The longest lasting coils I have are hands down the OBS VCT-V 0.5 ohm kanthal coils, my first one lasted me almost 2 months with everyday use. My second one is still going strong and a friend who also got a OBS after trying mine is on a month with his first coil and loves it, his favorite all around tank.

I am not a cloud chaser but the OBS puts out a nice dense flavorful cloud with as little as 20 to 30 watts and the juice lasts a hell of a lot longer than my Arctic, Crown and TFV4. The TVF4 is ridiculous on juice consumption with the triple coil, I went through a whole tank in about an hour, switched to the quad coil and that was better.

I don't think there is a big difference between kanthal and SS coils in a sub tank, an RDA maybe but I haven't tried SS yet in any of mine.

Right now I'm using Nichrome 80 26G and do 6 wraps on a 3mm diameter. It come out to about .6 ohms. I only have 28G in Kanthal and can only do 3 wraps on a 2.5 id to get .6 ohms. I run it at about 24-25 watts. SS seems to have a lower resistance than Kanthal so I've been eyeing it for awhile now. Was just wondering if the flavor lasted longer with SS or Kanthal. I don't know why but it seems like I loose flavor with Kanthal after 4 ml or so. I can get at least 2 to 3 tanks with Nichrome.

Basen 18650 3500mAh 30A battery
Buy name brand batteries (Sony, LG, Samsung, Panasonic) from reputable sellers. Most others (e.g. Efest, AWT, Basen, Subohmcell) are rewraps with highly overstated specs.

There are no 18650s with a true amp rating over 30 amps, and only a handful of those to boot. As for capacity, I've not seen any 20 amp rated batteries with more than 3000 mAh. There are some 3500 mAh 10 amp rated batteries, but they are likely to have less runtime than the lower mAh higher cdr batteries when pushed at 5 amps or more.

So what's a good 3000mah battery? With what I run I'm only hitting about 6.24 to 7 amps.

I just bought one of these. Sigelei 75W Plus TC VW Variable Wattage Temperature Control Box Mod Black Authentic I bought it because the 26650 battery. I only have one other mod that is a 26650 and it lasts me all day with no need to carry a spare battery. I have not received the Sigelei yet, but I'm pretty sure it will be a pretty good device.

I really like the looks of the Sig and the TNT. Just in case anyone has missed it Vaporflask is coming out in the next few weeks with a 26650 mod called the Stout (I think it's a 75watt). It's supposed to be under $100. It was shown in Pbusardo's latest video during an interview with the owner of VF. They have a couple of new "affordable" mods coming out. Skip to about 37:00 in the video to see it!
