Hi folks.

Has anyone went from 18 or more to 0 just like that? And was it as difficult as, lets say, quitting cold turkey? I wanted to buy some pre made vg/pg mix and only vape that with a flavour of my choice but i'm worried i'll end up wasting money and throwing it in the cupboard. I'm not confident enough to be handling nicotine right now, i'd like to do a bit more research before i do. I know my body wont be getting nicotine and i'm sure i'll go through withdrawals but just wondering how other folks experiences were/are. I'd like to think still vaping would get me through the withdrawls, mind over matter and all that.

Thanks in advance
Adam

They sell VG/PG mixes with nicotine added. I believe ecig express sells it along with a few other online dealers.

Thanks for the quick response IeatOhms.
They're quite expensive compared to the one i'm looking at. I can get 1L for £10 and that alone would last 10 months. Was just hoping for experiences and how other people handled going cold turkey. I know everyones different but would love to hear other people opinions before doing so.

Thanks

Well, Adam. I don't know anybody that has done it. I tried and I failed. Went from 18mg to 12mg and then decided to order some zero/0 mg.
I do know people who have gone 18 - 12 - 6 - 3 and then stopped, sure.
The trouble is, vaping zero has some drawbacks; most notably lack of throat hit and general satisfaction.
1/2 litre of PG = £3.99
1/2 litre of VG = £2.99

I make that £7.

You could try zero and if it all goes horribly wrong, throw in some 18mg nicotine 'shot' and carry on as normal.

Hi djsvapour.
Oh i don't like the sound of that, throat hit is important to me. I suppose i'll buy a small bottle online and try it out. I hope it works out, it would save a lot of money just vaping the pg/vg mix.

Thanks

Yes, it's depressing. I'm on 12mg (15 watts) today just to get that feeling back.
Even that is not really doing it. I got bored of vaping 3 and 6 at 40-50 watts.

Having quit myself, and was myself kind of "meh" about mixing juices, I will say that you'd be better off with nicotine, period. As long as nicotine is 100mg/mg, you should be fine, it's hard to OD yourself on that. I'd give it a shot, right now, since you only have 0 nicotine, just find a juice calculator app (I found that easier than trying to work with either my computer,s or paper. Once you find one, you can mix it either PG/VG or both.... Easiest is both, and you'll find by entering numbers into the juice calculator things are just FINE. You'll want to put in your nic level then PG and VG to make unflavored. If you want to and like your juice you are vaping now, you could look at the calculations to get you going.... Like, whatever your PG/VG flavored mix (in whatever ML you have it at) then use the juice calculator to figure out how to mix it, depending on what you'd like your juice to be.

So, as a perenial klutz, I use both silicone gloves (left over from my hairdying experiments, which also, IMO, turned out fantstic) and a mask from my husbands shed. But, I had few to no spills and really didn't need them.... That being said, better safe than sorry. I mix on a glass surface and wash it afterward, but i would very much encourage you to try DIY juicing, it's very safe. I think better than vaping 0 nicotine, I could barely quit With VAPING, but I'm a hard case. If you aren't comfortable with DIY then don't do it, though I think if you go to that subforum you will find much to put you at ease.

I don't think i could've quit smoking without that throat hit so i bet it is. Perhaps there are flavours out there that will "simulate" (If that's the right word) a throat hit, i know menthol does for me and others similar. I'd have to try them first without nic and see how well the hit is, or poor depending on how you see it.

I forgot to put nicotine (6%) in a 30ml shake and vape mix the other day. I didn't realize it til about 1/3 into the bottle. I vaped on it all day and made it fine. I didn't kick the cat, snap at the wife or throw anything. When I figured out what I had done the mind took over and forced me into getting some nicotine. It showed me unlike when on tobacco I could make it.

That's great Rob. I mean, it's good news down the road if you want to vape 0 nicotine *tapering down* I might add. You'll be okay on throat hit with some nicotine, it just depends how much you need. I don't need much at all and mostly vape my own creations now... Heh, til my juice supply runs out. That said, I use mostly nic salts, which would be the opposite of what you wanted if you desire a throat hit. Though nude nicotine, I believe it is? They offer smooth, normal and harsh versions of their products on line, but I'm not sure if they are all DIY (I believe so) so may not offer pre-mixed juices.

Yes, sometimes it's amazing what we can do without our mind complaining... :) :)

Hi Anna. Appreciate your time with the tips.

You're probably right. But i'm extremely clumsy, i'd end up killing myself. I think i tripped twice today :)
I think i'll do as you suggested and hope for the best. I will definitely be wearing PPE just in case. I've had a look at the calcs before and they seem simple enough.
Just one question, if i were to throw the nicotine required to make 18mg of 1 litre eliquid, would the nicotine go bad? I know nicotine doesn't last very long on its own, wondering if it was mixed it would be ok in just a dark cupboard (cool) of course.
Thanks

I'm afraid, the only way to make a litre of 18mg is to buy 100 x 10ml bottles of 18mg.
Anyone selling 54mg or 72mg is flying under the radar of the law.
Nicotine lasts just fine as long as you keep it cool and out of sunlight, preferably in glass.

I cut the nic too fast and went back to the stinkies for a while. Bad idea, you ask me. If 18mg has gotten you off the smokes, stick with it until you're sure you can stay off. Don't go to 0, try cutting back to 12. If the cravings get bad, go back up. If you're ok with 12, stick with it for a while and then cut to 6 or so. Just my :2c:

Umm...Most people suggest storing nicotine in glass and freezing it in glass bottles, so it stays stable in fairly small glassware so you can then transition it into the fridge and keeping it best that way. I don't know if making a liter of nicotine would be useful, as a) you'd have to leave it unrefrigerated for a fair amount of time, say 10 months as you've said. I think if you can use it over that period of time, mixing would probably be fine, and save you time on your own mixes. There's no reason you can't leave it unrefrigerated as long as you plan to stay at that level, I doubt it would degrade. I'm assuming you'll put flavoring in bit by bit, and that's a fine idea as long as you stay committed to vaping? I'd say go for it, but I'm not the most experienced DIY on here, I'm sure. You could try asking this question on the DIY forum....

But freeze the rest of your nicotine, it will help it stay in a stable form, longer. :)

Really? I've found plenty of websites with people selling those. Is it illegal?
I had found this one on eBay i was going to buy.
72mg 7.2% Unflavoured Nicotine Base USP Grade In Propylene Glycol | eBay

Seems to have good reviews.
Thanks

I have no doubt that is absolutely true. Once you have truly kicked the smokes, nicotine isn't that evil and most vapers can go many hours or longer without feeling bad.
I can do almost a day. :)
