1st attempt at micro coils.. failed help!

Yeah, you just have to keep playing with it. I remember when I started building, it took about a week of constant builds before I was able to get something I was happy with. You have to find the exact thickness of cotton needed and once you get it, you will be able to grab that amount of cotton in 10 seconds. But there has been times where I have re wicked 15 times in a row. So you are not failing at anything, just learning.

One more tip I will pass on is to wash your hands before you roll your wick. All the grease and nasty stuff on your hands gets into the cotton as your roll it and affects the flavor. At least to to me.

Looks good. That's all that matters, is if you are happy with it.

When I put the cotton in I have the side closet to the edge short and the other end of the cotton long. Then I shove the cotton under the coil. That always works bet for me.

Nice. 2-3 hits is about right before I check and add more juice.

I used to do the tail tuck thing. But now I push my coils over (before the screws are locked down of course) so they are centered.

That would be hard with 30G since the coil will deform too easy after being made. But with 26 or 24G once you make a coil you can abuse it a bit while setting it up and won't change.

But just keep experimenting until you get it exactly how you want. All you can do.

You need More Cotton. Use as much cotton to cover the complete base of the atty. Not just through the coils with a Little Extra on the sides.

Take a look at some of the Rip Tripper videos as he is a Dripper and shows how to build coils and wick them properly for dripping.

Too much cotton will block air flow. And cotton sitting in the center of the RDA surely isn't going to wick to the coils.

You can certainly do it, and I see many people do. Just a waste of juice. You want your cotton to wick dry. If you taste a dry hit and look, the wick should be bone dry.

I see so many people in the vape shops with nano coil setups and massive amounts of cotton. Just a waste.

When you can wick your cotton 100% dry, that is the perfect amount. Means any juice added will get used.

Well you have your opinion and from watching a lot of videos on dripping atties most other people have a completely different opinion.

As to having the wicks go dry. That is not a good thing to have happen whether you are dripping or using a tank, at least not from what I see, read and personal experience.

The extra cotton is not just placed in the center and or around the coils. It IS Part of the actual wick that goes through the coil or coils. So that extra cotton will soak up the juice and then Feed it to the coils.
