Howdy all,

I felt compelled to tell my story so I decided to register on this website. My wife and I are were pack-a-day smokers. The only problem was my wife is one of those hard-core smokers that insisted she would never want to, much less consider quitting smoking. Cigarettes are more than a "crutch" for her. She identifies herself as a smoker, mostly due to her starting at such an usually young age combined with other reasons I shouldn't mention without her permission.

Several days ago, I started looking into the e-cig thing. Fortunately, I have a friend that (I assume) spent some time on this website because he showed me what I now am guessing must have been some APV set-up (as opposed to those cheap, disposable analog look-a-likes that internet search terms like "best e-cig," tends to shove in your face). Almost the same day, my wife had a co-worker tell her about what, I'm guessing, was a standard newbie set-up consisting of an ego style batt, etc. The seeds were planted...

So I found the closest b&m vapor supply store near me and ended up walking out with an Ego Twist with an iclear and some tobacco flavored ejuice. My wife, being one of those people that absolutely dreads the mere suggestion of doing any internet research about anything was more than happy to take my new starter kit off my hands and, as you might have guessed, I was more than happy to let her. Of course, I went back the next day and repeated that shopping experience for myself.

We both still had some analogs left and concluded we should just finish them off so as to take the full plunge instead of saving them in case we get an undeniable urge as was recommended to us by the sales dude. As a result, we both started our new journey together just the other day on Halloween.

I was worried she might regress so I kept a very close eye on her while not letting her think I suspected anything. I also felt it was highly valuable to tell her I fully supported her even if she couldn't keep at it, while tactfully planting the seeds of the threat of an imminent, yet slow and painful cigarette related death! A smattering of implied desperation to not witness such an occurrence was also helpful.

I fully expected her to not succeed. She, like so many others, tried everything in the cosmos to quit. Patches, prescriptions, hypnosis... nothing worked. But I waited.... and by day two I got the most amazing phone call from her. She rambled on and on about how she needs to be sure she never runs out of juice and how she can she this working for her... it was apparent she was vocalizing the conflicts that were being resolved in her head. It was beautiful!

Now, here I am perusing this website with no end in sight as to the wealth of knowledge that's available. For that, I must extend to all of you my heartfelt thanks! Consequently, just 4 days in and I'm already planning out my next set-up (Provari and IBtanked for those curious). Wife says I might have to wait till Christmas, though. :glare:

My wish is that other smokers discover the surprisingly effective quitting method of e-cigs. I've already found the opportunity to mention this website to three people so it's a start. My wife said she's had two smokers ask her about it because she still goes outside to smoke, toot.

My best to all of you. And immense thanks to those of you that I see constantly replying to [the same] questions over and over in such a friendly and patient manner when you could simply say, "use the search function, idiot." The last thing a smoker trying to quit needs is getting the brush-off or cold shoulder!!

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on taking your first steps on your journey! You'll find that there is a wealth of good information and great people on here...but be careful you don't get too sucked in. I must have lost two weeks sleep when I first joined just reading anything and everything about anything I could here. The Metroplex has some of my favorite stores both online and B&M. I don't travel as much as I used to but Texas has plenty of shops and support. Don't be afraid to be vocal. That story wasn't long, it was lovely and I look forward to reading more from y'all. Don't be afraid to ask a question here, even if someone else has asked it. If you don't find the answer you're looking for ask again. Things are changing and new things come out so fast these days it's a full time job just keeping up on it all. Welcome again and good luck to y'all.

And as always...Happy Vaping! :toast:

Oh, she is right about running out of juice.

I have back slid before because I ran out of juice and there is no B&M where I am at. The other times I backslid was for lack of a hands free device but it seems most do not need that.

On getting a Provari, I have purchased from Pro-Vape three times. I don't think you will regret it.

I've had my slips too. This isin't a "quitting smoking" forum...this is a "how I started and plan to keep vaping forum." my banner is from my last slip up, not the day I started vaping. This place is all about your journey into the world of vaping. There are many of us that still smoke. Quitting is the ultmate goal for most of us but there isin't a sign or a bannor anywhere that says "thou must not have a cigarette ever to be here." Have fun with this and enjoy it. It's meant to be enjoyed at a pace comfortable for you. And if you happen to quit smoking along the way...well that is a bonus for sure! Wecome and congrats again for joining us.

And I agree with JJOOHHNN...I keep staring at a black provari counting the seconds till it's mine :D

Don't be afraid to ask a question here, even if someone else has asked it.

Ya' know?... I have had tons of questions, but the search function has always given the answers. And because this is such a massive community those answers have been thoroughly varied. But there is one question y'all can't answer for me; what flavor ejuice do I like. I doubt I'll ever care for anything too sweet. I enjoy the RY4 variant I'm currently using from the b&m store I bought my gear from so I'll try other tobacco flavors. I've always loved smoking a pipe so I'll certainly try some of those recommendations others are giving. I'm also a huge coffee lover so I'm curious to try to of those or maybe a mild nutty flavor.

Anything that would pair well with my morning cup of joe is welcome! I'm also hoping to find a strong tobacco flavor or similar to complement my booze! :toast:

This one can be tough but trying different things is part of the process to finding what YOU like best. Once you find some you like it is wonderful, I hope you find them soon. On the plus side, if you don't like something perhaps your wife will or vice versa. Good luck!

I'm so glad you said that. As I mentioned in my intro, my wife considers herself to be a smoker. End of sentence. In her words, "I'm not going to quit smoking... I'm just going to try to quit smoking cigarettes, but I fully intend on vaping forever, if nothing else."

Honestly, I'm cool with that. And I don't have to tell you vaping is really neat! I'm intrigued.

Ooh! That's a good point! Already, I've noticed our tastes are considerably different. She's on something called, 'Whatever's Cheapest.' It's supposed to be a tobacco flavor, but I find it way too sweet. It's not terrible, just not to my particular interest. Plus, with her being so adamant about not running out of ejuice, perhaps I can get a bit frivolous with my flavor purchases.

Wow!! Thank you, daleron! That's beautiful. And we're huge dog lovers, so she'll melt when she sees your adorable yorkie. Freakin' cute!! In fact, we don't even know most of our neighbors names, so when we're out walking our dogs we just address them as, "hello, parents of [insert dog's name]."

Did I just hijack my own thread?!

Now I gotta show my wife this thread!! Everyone's so cool, here! Thanks guys.

I don't know if this is the right fit or not but maybe you should consider two devices in the future.

I love the Provari and I think you will to. While I have not tried one yet (just ordered) but it sounds like she would like an eRoll.

I no longer vape tobbacco flavors but I used to. It seems like some really popular tobbacco flavors are Bobo's Bounty or something like that. Some selections from HHV ( Heathers Heavenly Vapes ) and some from Halo.

Congratulations. :)

This is a very nice story. Don't worry about it being long. It was very nice to read.

Besides we have written longer messages and/or read too. It is a big pleasure for us to listen the stories of vapers who quit smoking. It is our pleasure.
Also congratulations you will never walk alone my friend
