okay, so i was looking at box mods today, and for me, they all fall a little short. not saying there aren't good ones out there, i just maybe haven't seen them. anyways, long story short, i was thinking about building one.

my dilemma: cant seem to find a suitable box, difficult because i don't exactly know what i want or how much space i'm going to need.

my request: information. first, where is a good place to get a plastic box or metal box (made by someone?) that would fit 2 18650 batteries with room for some wiring? i'm assuming searching out a random plastic box would work but im coming up short.

here's what i have so far, feel free to tell me i'm wrong, stupid, crazy, whatever! just feed me some info! i want to build a dual 18650 box mod. i have minimal (but some) electrical experience so what i was thinking was a mod that incorporated a switch on the inside that could switch the battery output to be in series or parallel. To accomplish this i need two batteries isolated with connections running to a series/parallel switch then out to the 510 connection. I found something that may work for that.... but unsure, it's literally called a series/parallel switch lol.

Next thing is i want to be able to sub-ohm on this bad boy, so I'm looking at all high-amp rated stuff. I'm assuming if my draw is at 10+ amps every component will have to hold up so i found a 30Amp rated marine electronics push switch. i also saw some ignition push switches that may work. next I'm thinking 12-10AWG wire to handle up to about 30 AMps.

So overall, the box will be mechanical, i think that goes without saying, but any advice on how to actually do it. I love the idea of switching between the hardest hitting thing on the block to the battery life of 2 18650's. Tell me where I went wrong, what i have right, please! OR if anything out there exists or one of you are willing to build it, let me know!

Putting the whole thing in metal would be epic but not necessary.

1590WSBK Hammond Manufacturing | Mouser This is a black aluminum box that'll hold all that you want to use. Battery holders are cheap at Fasttech and Ebay.

i actually stumbled upon this while i was searching, i think it's the one im going to get.

now for battery connectors and such. do i need to put some delrin on the inside of the mod or something to keep it all separated from the box i was thinking attach the negative to the box wall and put a delrin rectangle on the top and bottom to put the positive terminals on.... i may take apart a trustfire charger i have laying around and use those battery slots, any comments on that?

I have made several dual 18650 mods using the 2 c-cell battery box from MadVapes. I first gut everything out of it completely, so that is just a box, then put in a dual 18650 battery holder from Digikey or Amazon. I use the SWADJ3 25W switching regulator available from Amazon or robotshop. Horn switch and connector from MadVapes.

Add a switch or 2 and some wiring and it would do what you are talking about.

Start reading. That forum has 100000000000x the information on building your own mods than this one ever will.

OKL2-T20 safe to sub 0.1 ohms, 20 amps, safety cutoff, 110 watts capable, free as a product sample. Lets you use ANY switch, amp rating doesn't matter.

Mechanicals are legacy hardware...

can i just ask please, what happens to the amps in each circuit, parallel & series, on a parallel the V are the same but in series they are added to each other, is it the same for the amp's? thankyou.

i dont know how much room you need for your batteries and connectors but you can fit two batt's in a reo mech.

Awesome idea brother! I was literally thinking about doing this to my parallel 26650 box I made recently, I had no idea they were called parallel/series switches . I was devising a complex way to do it with other types of switches and it was right in front of me! Lol thank you friend.

And as for your project, if you don't know about E-cig diy parts I suggest exploring some of the sites out there, some have pretty much all you need :p. Here's madvapes a site I use occasionally when I can't DIM:

Here's that battery holder you were looking for, I took one of these pieces of plastic, and basically used it solely for the actual shape, got rid of the crappy steel connections, and made some pure silver contacts for it (out of 14ga 99.999% recycled silver, similar to what you wanted to do, copper works amazing too).

Hope this helps man, If I were you I'd work on making a tubular series mod, that's what I'm devising next myself. I think it'll look cooler, as well as be slightly easier to make. Let me know when you finish that beaut! :D

Hey brother I remember this post from a few days ago, and I found the answer to your solution, and it's a BRILLIANT simple design by a guy on UKV, Named Simon JP. He's not on there anymore from what I understand, but look at this absolute beauty. It's simple, has HUGE copper contacts, and probably has next-to-non voltage drop, and the best part is it can EASILY be switched between series or parallel. I'm already bending the copper rectangles to do my own twist on this, but all credit goes to simon, you tell he's an engineering artist.

I would like to know where I can find the free sample :)
