Now that high wattage regulated mods are common and cheap IMO, there are no valid reasons for buying/using mechs .

This fast evolving e-cig technology reminds me of the photography revolution with digital replacing films. In the mid 90's digital cameras were crap and film photographers ridiculed the technology. In the early 2000's digital had surpassed film in all aspects of photography. But is was still common on photography forums for die-hards film users to be in denial of the obvious superiority of digital over film.

Is this the same with mech users who refuse to face the fact that regulated mods are superior in every aspect of vaping. Security, quality, reliability. ...etc. I detect an undertone of elitism in mech users. It was the same with film photographers in those days.

Mechs are cheaper than an equivalent regulated mod, IMO not cheap enough to accept its limitations. I predict that very soon many mechanical mods will be laying in landfills and vaping museums.

Remove battery and ATTY....drop mod in water; pool, river, ocean, toilet, sink.
Remove mod from water and shake dry.
Install battery and Atty.
Mine fires...does yours?

Cheers

In vaping, as in other hobbies/activies, there are "tinker'ers" and there are "appliance users".

An appliance user is someone who purchases something, turns it on, and expects it to work first time every time. When it doesn't work, they don't know why, it just doesn't work. They throw it out and buy a new one.

Tinker'ers are people who know how all of the integrated parts and pieces interact to get the desired results. When something doesn't work they know where to look and how to fix / fine tune something to get what they're after.

I'm a tinker'er. I know that my favorite ADV e-liquid vaped best at 10.5 watts. I also know that an 18490 battery has a fairly flat discharge curve and if I build my coil to 1.6 ohms, I'll get the vape I'm looking. I happen to like the small form factor of an 18490 tube mod with my Kayfun for my all day vape at work. It fits nicely in my tool pouch on the job site and there's nothing that can really screw up with the thing.

After browsing this forum for a few months now, I get the impression that the majority fall into the "tinker'er" category. I feel that mechanical devices have a long and evolving lifetime ahead....

You cannot get away from the fact the buttons and electronics break and the mod becomes a paper weight. I enjoy both, as I have both, but my mechanicals will not be in a museum. I can setup the atty to my liking on top of my mechanicals and vape for a very long time without rebuilding, and only changing batteries. In some cases, I may have to do maintenance like clean switch contacts, or could & wicks. I have seen to many cases of "I need a new xxxx, my switch is broken" to rely on an electronic mod for an indefinite period of time.

Sorry but I detect elitism and denial.

Yup many of us is a tinker and enjoying tinkering our device, we know it's allot of hassle but we like it. And just look at the size of 18350 with hybrid toppers, no regulated device can match that small size for some of us that like small size.

But of course everyone have their own liking.

Sorry but I detect elitism and denial.

He's telling the truth though. I know alot of ppl who are like that. They just expect stuff to work and have no interest to it when it breaks. They just go on and buy new stuff. It's mostly the tinkers who like to use mechanicals because we love doing diffrent builds and such to perfection.

Another + for the mechs is the looks. So far no regulated mod have catched my eyes as mechanicals does.
They're just more portable and beautiful in my opinion. That's my main reason to choose mechs, for pure looks and portability.

The only elitism comes from you. You've done this before....you like flaming. Nobody cares that you prefer vv stuff, especially mech users. The people like me, who use both, don't care about your stupid Theory either. The landfills will not be full of mechs because China is producing 100w chips. Actually, if it's a rainy year, the landfills will probably be full of 100w chips.
Feel free to look foolish yet again....tell us how mechs are outdated. While you're at it, convince everyone that ProVaris are too expensive.

Elitism? Nah, none here. lolol

When I started vaping, we vapers would meet up, carrying 510's Ego's, VV devices and boxes and tubes of all sorts. Some were elderly and in bad health, some had missing teeth and lots of ink.

Nobody cared about who you were and what you were vaping, we just shared a few beers and the joy of breaking free from smoking.

No pompous BS at all.

Different strokes for different folks.

The end results, the quality of the vaping experience is the only factor that is of interest to me. It can be small, it can be a beautiful work of art, but if it can't be trusted to deliver a constant quality vapor I am not using it.

If changing batteries after a few puffs, or if you don't notice the changes in the vapor quality does not bother you, good for you. For me, unregulated mods just don't cut it.
