Now that high wattage regulated mods are common and cheap IMO, there are no valid reasons for buying/using mechs .

This fast evolving e-cig technology reminds me of the photography revolution with digital replacing films. In the mid 90's digital cameras were crap and film photographers ridiculed the technology. In the early 2000's digital had surpassed film in all aspects of photography. But is was still common on photography forums for die-hards film users to be in denial of the obvious superiority of digital over film.

Is this the same with mech users who refuse to face the fact that regulated mods are superior in every aspect of vaping. Security, quality, reliability. ...etc. I detect an undertone of elitism in mech users. It was the same with film photographers in those days.

Mechs are cheaper than an equivalent regulated mod, IMO not cheap enough to accept its limitations. I predict that very soon many mechanical mods will be laying in landfills and vaping museums.

Your opinion. My opinion (while I have both) is that a mechanical mod is every bit as regulated as a vv/vw device.

One is regulated by the touch of a button, the other by the build of the coil.

The beauty of vaping is choice. You have obviously chosen yours. Please allow the rest of us to choose ours.

Thank You and have a nice day!

Now, if they will only (pretty please) invent a 50A battery that keeps at a steady 4.0 volts so I can calculate my vapes without the need of a regulated device?

I don't see any ridiculing, bullying or intimidation in crxess's post and it was quite informative for me :). I now know why you don't understand why mechanical mods work for so many people.

'Busted' is what comes to mind for me, LOL.

Busted ??? Obviously you are in denial. I really don't understand the likes of you. Over 6000 posts and you could not come with anything intelligent on the subject, only sly remarks, pity ! I hope you are not as ********* as this thread shows you to be.

And then you wrote:

It is sad, but always a hoot, to read the negative personnal comments from those who have nothing to contribute but somehow feel threaten by technology and progress .

I can't be the only one who sees the irony here :)

So Tangaroav, you propose that mechanical mods are 'out in 2014'. Knowledgeable mechanical mod users then patiently explain the benefits of mechanical mods to you and why they will never ever 'be out'. We point out that you can't understand the full benefits of mechanical mods because you don't use rebuildables (as in my 'busted' remark. Until then I thought you were a vaper who was experienced with mechanical mods and simply had a very enthusiastically opinionated view of them). And you respond with '*********'

Tangaroav, vape whatever you want to vape that makes you happy. It's very easy, just takes a power supply and a atomizer. As I said before, I'm happy you found what works for you :thumb:

And I am very happily vaping my K100 and AGA-T with SS mesh, 27 gauge Kanthal at 0.5 ohms with my favorite DIY juice, Ryedan #1:

If you like, PM me for the recipe :thumb:

My only experience so far has been with my regulated P...... mod hitting the concrete deck a half dozen times.....knocked into the toilet once (not clean water either) and dried in my commercial dehydrator. Wish I would have thought about the dryer cause I know it would have survived :D

The Provari is IMO the toughest regulated mod on the market. The Billet Box might be right up there, but I don't know enough about it to say one way or the other.

I still say my K100 will beat both up in the dryer though. That puppy is the closest thing to the proverbial 'blunt instrument' of any PV that I know of :2cool:

There will always be a market for the unusual, obscure, and unique. A lot of you probably don't have a studded leather belt or a codpiece that flips down and has a pair of pistols behind it.

OK, where were you hiding while I was getting dressed this morning Gunmerc

What I don't understand about all of this crap going on is why are vapers fighting amongst themselves.

Mech vs Regulated vs Cigarettes -- Blah blah who cares. You're not smoking and it's supposedly healthier for you.

Are you guys already losing sight of what's important?

I hear ya TheDC, but we're not really fighting. At least I'm not, it's just a lively discussion for me :).

We all know it doesn't really matter what we vape as long as we're not smoking. Tangaroav has some pretty opinionated views about mechanical mods, but I do think he'll come around once he tries my Reydan #1 on a rebuildable at 35 watts. And if he doesn't, he's still a vaper, so he's OK with me :thumb:

The codpiece gives us an example to consider. Although most would agree that a flip down codpiece with a pair of pistols has obvious benefits over a simpler codpiece, both have their fans. There are a number of valid reasons to use a codpiece without pistols. That would be my personal preference.

Different strokes for different folks.

Actually I was expecting a debate on the value of mechanicals. The subject here is about vaping instrument, it is only a vaping tool. This is a forum, debating ideas and opinions is part of a forum's role.

It is sad, but always a hoot, to read the negative personnal comments from those who have nothing to contribute but somehow feel threaten by technology and progress . Sadly the reactions become virulent when this is the opinion of a, (relative), newcomer to the forum.

In all the comments on this thread, many stated their preference for mechanical mods, some mentionned that they enjoy both and a few brought valid arguments for using them instead of regulated , and I mean only a few.

My opening statement saying that, IMO, soon most mechanicals mods will be gathering dust, in a landfill, (or in a closet I can add), has not been repudiated. It remains my opinion.

Saying so should not be viewed as an attack on anyone. So please put away your weapons and use dialogue instead. Otherwise the forum police WILL close this thread.

My weapons?! So you actually quoted MY post and you are of the belief that I attacked your character?

There is a difference between mechs will be in landfills and this is why regulated will become even more popular. This topic isn't new.
Further more, your aggressive debating is leading to aggressive responses. I was merely stating a more solid backed debate could be productive. You are taking on some individuals here that have been vaping for quite a long time pretty aggressively and harshly.

Sure, you can adjust settings on the fly with a good DLSR and compensate for a lack of photography skills, not to mention the benefits of being able to preview the image, but until digital cameras hit the 500-800 Megapixel range, film will still produce a better image. Of course, the cost of shooting 100 rolls of film to get that one perfect image is beyond the means of most people.

Similarly, a properly set-up mech mod will deliver an exceptionally smooth vape. Even the best VV/VW device will not deliver a perfectly flat DC current, though they can come very close.

You picked a good analogy, but came to the wrong conclusion. With both cameras and mods, perfection is only found in film and in mechs, but one must be willing to strive and work for that perfection. Small wonder that the majority will always go for "good enough" and "close enough."

Luckily, mechs are not as hard to use as a camera.

To be honest his opinions is flawed if he's NOT using RBAs on a mech. What's the point in using clearos on a mech?
I can understand that you had a bad vape TS, when you're not rebuildning.
Get your self a kayfun and a dripper and start building. And you'll quickly see the profits of using a mechanical.

When you're using clearos, OFC regulated will be "better".
This shows that you're still new to all of this, and yet you make such bold statements?

Well if clearos and regulated works for you, good for you and vape on! But don't look down on others who doesn't agree with you.

It's flawed in the math. If you are using pre built clearomizers then they are generally offered in 1.5 and 2.0 ohm resistances. So let's do a little math.

With a 1.5 ohm coil on a mech with a battery at a 3.7 volt charge.

You are going to be pushing the equivalent of 9.12 watts.

With a 2.0 ohm coil at the same battery level

You will be pushing 6 watts.

That is why you "think" that mechs are not as good.

Let's assume that we are building our own coils now and change the figures.

1.0 ohm coil at 3.7 volts

13 watts

.8 ohm coil at 3.7 volts.

17 watts.

.5 ohm coil at 3.7 volts.

27 watts

This is why your initial thinking is flawed. Until you build your own coils the mechanical will always be an unregulated device to you. Once you build your own coils you can achieve whatever wattage you wish.

Im not even going to comment on the ecig aspect. This whole predication is flawed lol.

Film photography is STILL to this day much much more detailed tha even the highest megapixel digi cam. As a photo major at a highly rated art school i know this to be true.

To replicate film quality usig digital methods, the photo masters of today can only use film cameras with digital camera backs. This allows the film to be transferred to a digital medium while still using film to capture the light to produce the image

In order to repplicate film, you would need over 150 megapixels in a camera to even come close to the level of detail in a film shot. And even then the tones and crispness simply arent comparable.

So lets not make assumptions on false data. No self respecting photographer can argue that digtal surpasses film in anything except ease of use. 8x10 film cameras are still the gold standard. Ever hear of Ansel Adams? Ever seen a digital print tht has such a level of detail and clarity? Nope.

Mechanicals are here to stay. Also just bc you feel there is no reason to buy mechs doesnt mean everyone shares that sentiment. Its actually quite ignorant. Blanket statements generally make no valid point and offend many. Terrible post terrible argument.

Ridiculousness
