So.. I liked my hcigar Taifun GT that I decided to buy the authentic when it went up for sale. It should arrive at my doorstep tomorrow (today).

Problem is, I need a new mech to give it a permanent home. Currently, my only 23mm mod is an Infinite Brass King V2. I do like it, but it's already being used by my Flash E v3.

So, I'm looking for suggestions. I'd really prefer a mod that is mainly SS as I already have too much copper/brass that needs polishing. ;) For that same reason, I'd also like something with silver plated contacts. Brass/copper contacts just tarnish too quickly for my taste.

I've been looking at the Caravela, Chi-You, Atomo, and others. I love the look of the Vela, but the pin system looks bunk, and the ones that do have adjustable contacts all seem to be 22mm. Same with Chi-You clones.. so many different versions that it's hard to tell what's what out there. I'm not opposed to pin/magnet upgrades if necessary and readily available.

Thoughts? Oh yeah.. my budget only supports clone mods right now.

Well, it seems you prefer mechs, so I hesitate to suggest a vv/vw variable mod, but the Sigelei zmax v3 and v5 are 23mm, telescoping, but not long at all in 18350 mode. I've been very happy with my Sigelei v3, the quality is exceptional, stainless threads and body, and they're not real costly at all. Just thought I'd throw that out there, since I know they're 23mm.

hmmm, that's not a bad idea. Hadn't really considered anything like that. I am looking for a mech though. :)

Well if you can't find a mech that suits, you might keep the Sigelei Zmax's in mind, since they're not terribly expensive, very high quality, and do fit your 23mm specification. I got my v3 for $39.95, though I think those are kinda being phased out; the v5's are $45-ish I think. So maybe a bit more than some of the lower-end mechs, but definitely cheaper than those of the higher end.

I ended up going with a SS Chi You mod. I figured it's a tried and true design that's been known to work well for quite some time. With the popularity of 22mm devices, their just isn't a huge variety of choice in the market for 23mm devices. When you factor in cloners only making the popular stuff, the market shrinks even further if you aren't looking to spend $200. I do prefer the look of the Caravela, but it seems all of the trusted cloners have converted theirs to 22mm versions. That combined with the difficulty of finding one with truly adjustable contacts turned me off.

I also purchased a set of magnets for the switch as well as a brass, flat top cap for some contrast. Everything should be here tomorrow, so I'll try and let on how things work out when it arrives. Thanks for the help.
