Good Morning Everyone!

I've been building for awhile, but i just got a roll of 24 GA Kanthal in and just want to know what your preferred builds are with this. It would be going in my Stillare so it has post holes not slots and they're decent sized holes, but i heard that twisting 24 GA would cause me to drill out the center post hole just a bit. It seems that everything i wrap comes right around .24 - .28 ohms and it's decent, but a little lower like .2 - .18 would be preferred. I'm currently using 8 wraps on a 5/64th drill bit. The vape is warm, but i feel i got more vapor production out of my twisted 28 GA dual set up at .32 ohms with 4 wraps personally. Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and vape ON! :vapor:

Dirty, I know hahahaha. 4 wrap 24g jumbo coils wrapped on a 5/32 bit, wicked with cotton yarn on my Stillare. .20 ohms. Tons of flavor and vapor with this setup.

PSA: Please gain full knowledge of Ohm's Law and battery safety before experimenting with sub-ohm builds. The more you know...

The reason you can get more vapor production out of the twisted 28ga is due to the larger amount of surface area. I wouldnt suggest twisting 24ga just to increase the vapor production for that would just cause the warm up time to be extended. Instead take the build you have now and try to increase the airflow (open that airflow slot wide) and see if that helps. Ensure the airholes are placed directly inline with the coils and that there is proper clearance around the coil to provide air circulation. HTH show us a pic of what you got so far to help even further.

I often thread/wrap the center post BEFORE I make the coils.

You have to know the length of the center leg you need, and the screw/base can get in the way, but once you get the hang of it, it's easier to balance the coils, and I can actually build quicker.

It takes practice, though.

But it solves the huge wad of kanthal beneath the center post problem

Yeah i posted a thread on battery life and how sub ohms kill them in 1-2 hours LOL, but i ran into a guy at my local vape shop and he was running dual 32 GA micro coils 20 wraps at 1.4 ohms on his HANA Mod at 30 watts. His clouds were as big as mine! Not as dense, but verrrry impressive. I tried it and vapor production was great the flavor was great pretty much and all around great vape but just not a really dense vape. He said with that build at 30 watts he was getting 3-4 hours of battery which is kick .... 3-4 hours at 30 watts regulated?! I need to get one hahaha

What is a jumbo coil? And how do you wrap one? i think i might give it a shot today!

I can produce big *assed clouds with my Russian and a Provari. His build is all about surface area.

Thats ALOT of coil, which means alot of wick is in contact with the coil. Intead of one coil pushing that resistance, he has four times the surface area for the given resistance.

A jumbo coil just refers to the internal diameter, in this case 5/32". It's wrapped the same way as a microcoil, with all wraps touching. It provides the same amount of surface area as a microcoil using the same length of resistance wire, but allows you to use substantially more wicking material. With the size of the coil, you really need to be aware of potential contact with the posts and walls of your RDA though.

So i built the jumbo coil and stuffed an insane amount of wick in there. I must admit it vapes great! It's warm but not insanely hot, and vapor production is great. I also built a 2.5 ohm coil for my trident and popped it on my Zmax. It's 15 wraps on a 5/64th drill bit and it's actually pretty impressive. I've been so caught up in sub ohm's for my Mech Mod that i never really tried to build for my regulated mod before. I did a little research and 1.7 ohms for 15 watts is preferred, but in the process of wrapping dual coils i ended up at 1.2ohms and decided to stick with one. I will re-wrap tonight and get it right this time! LOL I'm thinking 18-20 wraps outta do the trick.
