Cool! Nice find. I actually have had their site bookmarked for some time, but hadn't caught that one...

At a current density of 1200 mah per GRAM, although at a lower voltage, we could still see huge capacity in a small package.

Alas, once out of the lab, I'll bet the first real world use will not be for us vapers :D

But it may spark another home brew mod revolution.

Ohhh.. this is exciting news!
I asked Sheldon from Big Bang Theory when this would be available to the masses.. he said fasttech is working on it but that sulfur stinks.

Trying to get my head around this part, though:

Because lithium-sulfur batteries deliver about half the voltage of lithium-ion versions, this eight-fold increase in capacity demonstrated in the ORNL battery cathode translates into four times the gravimetric energy density of lithium-ion technologies, explained Liang

EDIT: Got my head around it!

Battery researchers always talk big and deliver very little. Four times the energy density sounds great but is meaningless without knowing such things as the power delivery curves and recharge rates. 300 recharge cycles is ok but not great. Much too early obviously for pricing projections but just because sulphur is nearly free in no way means that a sulphur based battery will be cheap.

Future of vaping will be the size of a cigarette or smaller and hit like a truck. Mods will be retro.

Three years ago it was 10x performance (including lower internal resistance..AKA faster charge/discharge)....

Annnnd....nothing.
Or Big-Energy owns all the patents. Or it's impossible to mass-produce. Etc.
Meanwhile, there are foreign owned "New battery tech" plants ...laying dormant.

I don't get it. There's some dirty stuff afoot somewhere.

Here's a quote about the same type of thing....from 2010.. (I used the 10x 180 mAh...)
