DH has been using an e-power for a couple of days and loves it, so I thought I'd shop around for a better price (his was from another vendor) and found VJ has them on sale...yay!

Anyway, there was another thread where someone asked if VJs are "2nd gen switch"...the thread has 45 replies, but the question wasn't answered it seems.

Could someone please explain the difference between 1st and 2nd generation switches before I make my purchase?

Thanks!

The difference between the 2 is the regulated circuit board in the switch. The first generations will not allow the use of anything UNDER 1.6 ohms. So if you use LR atomizers and cartomizers you have to know what you are using. For example EM LR 510 atomizers and cartomizers are 1.6 ohms and they work fine. However Cisco LR 510 atomizers are 1.5 ohms and will not fire (activate). The exception to this rule are the 1.5 ohm Dual Coil Cartomizers. This is due to the fact they actually use 2 higher ohm coils in parallel to produce the lower ohms. They work absolutely wonderful on the E-Power regardless of the button generation.

2nd Generation buttons are unregulated. Our latest shipment was "suppose" to be 2nd generation buttons. However it seems that we got a mixed batch. Some are first and some are second. It's impossible for us to test every single kit and button that goes out the door so for now we are telling our customers to assume they are 1st generation. For most this is not an issue because they are using the Dual Coil Cartomizers with it.

Thanks

DExter I assume if I place a screw in voltmeter on the epower and it works means it unregulated? I know the regular egos cannot resister on a voltmeter and the e-power I bought from you registers the voltage. Thus I assume mine is 2nd generation.
I bought it just to use the duals on...love it.

Thanks for the reply, Dexter...

My Cisco LR 306/1.5 ohms "will" fire on DH's e-power, but I don't seem to get much vapor out of them (the attys "are" getting old, though...been using the same two since January so I don't think I can ask much more of them, huh?). So I'm thinking the one I have is a 2nd gen?

Anyway, I'll place my order in a few minutes...got any REALLY good juice? :D

HippyGirl,

Taste is so subjective it really is hard to recommend liquid. However my personal favorites right now are:

Juicy Peach
Watermelon Frost
Pineapple Plunge
Apple Mint

Our best seller is the Fire Cured Virginia but I can't personally stand it. Black Cherry Pina Colada is also very popular but again I don't like it myself.

Do the second Gen switches have a longer cut off time or are they still a short cut off, how long before the light starts to blink ?

mwa,

I'm sorry but this confuses me. I am still using a 1st generation button and have NEVER had the switch cut off on me. I just took a 30 second drag (actually 10 second and continued to hold for another 20) and it never started to blink or cut off.

As far as we know there is no cut off on these switches. At least the ones we have in stock.

Wow, that's super, I purchased an epower at the Philly vapefest from xxx xxxxx and there is a cut off, this is when the epower first came out, mine also had a bad switch so I was sent a new switch, I have 2 of them and both have a cut off and the light blinks, it is what has made me not like these, but if you have a no time limit cut off switch that would be super and I would like one, but I wonder if the threads are the same as my unit

I'm not sure you can guarantee regulated vs. unregulated based on the volt meter. My understanding of the Egos is that they use PCM (Pulse Control Modulation) technology and quickly cycle between 0 and 3.4 volts repeatedly. And that's what screws up your volt meter.

Regarding the cutoff. I have a 14650 battery model and I get a 10-second cutoff. 10 seconds is enough to make me cough, so I would be surprised if anyone needed more. They're nice units. :)

Regarding the threads: they're 510 compatible. If you like Ego atomizers, which screw on the outside thread, you'll need a 510->Ego adapter.

Yup, I have the 14500 model and it too has the 10second cut off, however it is not enough for me and my style of vaping. I'll also state that running IMR 14500's in these epower units makes a big difference as well since they fully charge to 4.19 and hold there charge in the higher limits longer than the standard 14500's do so if your not running a IMR do so ! DexTer could you let me know how much a Version #2 non cut off switch would cost me and if you could get me one of these. ? THX

After a LOT of testing today we find that this switch is a bit odd. On some (not all) dual coils it does not cut off. Odd but ok. Tested on an EM LR 510 atomizer - 12 second cut-off (using a stop watch). There was no blinking at the cut-off time either. It just goes off. Tested with Standard 510 atomizers. Same as Dual Coils, some would have a 12 second cut-off and some wouldn't.

Soooooooooo. Mwa. I wish I could answer your question bud but..............................lol

    Got to love China.
