I am planning on making the Maddog mod. I found the same flashlight he used, and whenever my batteries arrive, I am going to follow the video guide and put one together.

The problem I have is I was not sure which batteries to get. I didn't really want a 6v mod, just something that would extend the life of my battery.

A friend said he went with the Ultrafire 18650 3.7v from dealextreme. I found them on the site and then ordered some and a charger. He received his the other day and told me they are too big to fit in that flashlight.

Does anyone know the appropriate size I should look for while shopping for a 3.7v battery to use in that led flashlight maddog modded ?

yup . the 18650 will be too long. the 2x CR2s that maddog used were about 54 mm in length alltogether and they were a pretty tight fit, so you really cant use anything longer than 54 mm in that certain flashlight.. The 18500 batts fit real nice, but you wont get as much Mah from it ( still quite a bit though).. anything smaller than 22.5 mm Diameter and 54 mm length will fit in the casing ...you may need to sleeve the batts but that is easy to fix ..

I sure wish they had like a 22500 battery that held about 4000 Mah
