When the battery isn't connected it lights up as normal when I press the button, as soon as I attach it when I try press the button it blinks 3 times and doesn't fire up. tried the whole pull the pin up thing and it still won't work should I quit now and go buy 20 l&b or can someone give me advice on how I can get it working again? Thanks

See when I put it on charge the charger light stays green? Does this mean it's not a flat battery?

If it's green it got a full charge, it'll be blinking red when charging.
What clearomizer / atomizer do you use currently? (The part you screw ontop of the battery) IE the tank. :)
If it's blinking with a full charge it means the coil that is supposed to evaporate the juice is shorted out and the battery protection kicks in and blinks to let you know.

But it would help to know what brand and type of tank you're using.

There is a replaceable coil in it. It has popped.

Probably looks something like this

or this.
It screws in to the bottom of the tank.

Ugh I'm such an e cig beginner I have no idea what that means lol. I've an eGo-T... One minute it was working fine then the next second nothing but 3 blinks

Green light on the charger means the battery is at full charge status.

Your coil developed a short, causing the protection circuitry on your battery to kick in and warn you. It happens.

Hopefully your clearomizer or tank is able to use replacement coil heads. (Some tanks are considered disposable and won't allow replacement.) Your tank should be fine again once you replace the coil.

If you know specifically which tank you have, you can do a You Tube search to see a demo on how to replace the coil.

A green light on the charger can also mean that the battery and charger are not making a connection. You said you tried to lift the pin in the battery, so perhaps clean the battery terminals and the charger terminals with alcohol and try charging again. If you have another battery or another charger or another tank, try them all...process of elimination.

Smoke a few Lamberts and go get yourself a new tank. :)

Be careful what you buy though... it's a jungle out there for the newbies. The UK has some terrible rip-off products that are expensive and barely work.

Google is probably not your friend either - seriously. Don't trust reviews either, most are as fake as fake can be.

In emergency, a real vaping shop is a good answer. Supermarkets mostly sell tobacco company e-cig products - very expensive and often total rubbish. Especially Blu... meh...
