3 months in... looking for something better!

Hello! I've been vaping for 3 months now and I'm not completely satisfied with my experience. My set up consists of a vision spinner 2 and various clearomizers... I started off with the evod glass and LOVED it until the first coil burnt out. After replacing multiple coils the experience hasn't been the same. I thought buying different clearomizers would help and I've gone thru the mini protank 3, aspire ets glass, and even hijacked my boyfriend's aspire nautilus and im still not content! the mini protank 3 vapes a little harsh... the aspire ets constantly spits ejuice in my mouth... and the aspire nautilus doesnt have great flavor. what am i doing wrong?! or do i just need to upgrade entirely?

I've been looking at mechanical mods because they look so cool but I'm intimidated by how complex it is

I love all the fuzion vapor juices and I'm not a fan of throat hit. I'm looking for more of a flavorful smooth experience with lots of vapor!

Any advice or recommendations for me? All is appreciated :)

If you liked the Evod glass the EMOW is very nice as well. You could try the Kanger aerotank turbo, never tried it, but two dual coils at the same time pretty much can't be anything but awesome. I never had any luck with aspire products myself, my nautilus is sitting in it's box next to the juice i never use lol.

Helen... congrats on three months! Way to go. I am not sure how much you smoked cigarettes. There are tons of people on here that use and love the tanks. I used kanger tanks for a month and had the same the same experience as you. It spit, I went through coils daily and it just did not give me what I was looking for. If it was windy out and I was vaping outside with my tank I got nothing.

So, I bought a mech mod and an RDA> I originally went into my local shop looking for the K-fun because I did not want to drip. They talked me out of it saying that each time you want to change your build or flavor it was a ton of work.

It took me a good month to figure out the RDA. My favorite local vape shop will build coils for you for ten bucks. And that is not really a "hard" fee I have seen people buy two 15ml of juice and they do it for free. Anyway I get a smooth consistent hit ALL the time. AND if something not right I can easily fix it in a minute. I just could not figure out had to ensure a good hit with the tanks.

Also, with the rda or a "bigger" build I like juice that is 90% VG, or I buy juice with the max amount of VG> Since there is much more smoke production I have dropped my nic level from 24 in tanks to 12 in the morning and 6 during the day.

It is working great for me and saved my vaping experience. OH by the way I smoked lots.... 2 packs a day, and if I went out drinking at night maybe 3. OUCH!

Keep it up good luck!!

Hi and welcome!

Keep in mind that the battery device, no matter if it's regulated or mechanical, is just the power source. It's the juice delivery system that makes the difference. If you don't get the juice figured out, it doesn't matter what you use to heat it.

For less throat hit and more vapor, you might want to try raising the VG level of your juice and cutting back on the nicotine. It doesn't have to be by a lot, you might try just one juice with a lower nic level. You might also consider trying carto tanks. There's a slight learning curve, but it's not difficult to get the hang of. Vaping with a carto tank is a much different vaping experience from clearos/glassos.

What do you mean by that? Did you get a dry hit? Did your coil pop and your eVod stopped working? I'm not sure...

Kanger eVod glass is a nice clearomizer. So is Aerotank mini.

Mechanicals are simple, fyi. I am not a fan of mechs mainly because as the battery gets weaker so does the vape and I like consistency but also keeping up with the battery's life can be troublesome, IMO. Mechs have their place and I certainly use them on occasion but all day every day. To each their own. My point in that is if you are willing to learn a few simple basics mechs shouldn't intimidate you. I would suggest learning how to rebuild if flavor is your goal. A mod that uses external batteries is a good vaping investment. You can use it today with your tanks and in the future with your RBA. Which mod/ RBA depends on your budget and such. Let us know, questions about "what to buy next" are super common :)

I love my builds and tanks, I have definitely had my issues with kanger and aspire alike, but there is also a level of convenience to consider too. My rda's definitely hit better - flavor and vapor production, but it is a rather big hassle if I am doing anything that requires my attention (constantly adding liquid). If i have the time to drip I would choose my rda's over my tanks in a heart beat, but just something to consider if you're doing too much to afford the time to drip

Good to hear you're going strong 3 months in! I'm sure most of us can say we went through a similar experience as you in one way or another. We were looking for a better vaping experience, whether that be more vapor, better flavor, trying to set-ups/mods/builds/tanks, etc. You're not alone!

If you like your tanks, first an foremost, I would look into a bit more advanced mod, something variable voltage or wattage. The variable voltage eGo batteries aren't terrible, but going with a mod gives you so much more flexibility, power, and batter life to boot! The iTaste MVP is a great basic way to go, though that is just one of many options for more advanced mods. The other thing you can do is try out a few different tanks. The big one right now that a lot of people are talking about is the Nautilus Mini from Aspire. I know you said you've tried an original Nautilus, but you have not lived until you have tried the new vertical coil atomizer heads that Aspire has recently put out. I tried the original Nautilus, and even though the juice capacity was really nice (5 mL! No one could possibly vape that much!), the flavor was a bit blah and the vapor production wasn't killer for me. After trying the new heads, I have completely made a 180 on my opinion of the Nautilus, as all of the those problems are pretty much gone now.

If you're a bit more adventurous, many people have talked about the rebuildables, and a basic RDA is always good. I started with an IGO-W, though I honestly don't know if those are still floating around or not! There are plenty of great resources online for tutorials and tips on building these RDA's, and once you get the hang of it, they are really quite easy!

If you let us know the direction you're looking in, maybe we can help to recommend some more specifics for you!

Happy vaping! :)

Mechanical mod or variable mod, all can spit and gurgle. Two things come to mind about that problem. Laying your tank on the side instead of standing it up will cause juice to run into the airtube leading to the mouthpiece. The other is vaping using a hard draw like you would use smoking a cigarette. Both can lead to juice in the mouth. Draw slowly and easily for 3 to 4 seconds to get better flavor and prevent juice in the mouth.

The tanks you mentioned are very popular around ECF. The Aspire Nautilus and the Kanger Protanks, as well as the Evods are used widely and liked by many.

I have to wonder if you are getting genuine Kanger Evod coil heads or maybe your replacements could be much different in resistance than the one you loved. Kanger and Aspire both went through some quality issues earlier this year. Check with your supplier and see what the purchase dates were on their stock. Most Chinese products don't have pack dates, so you can't look at that to see when they were made.

I'm on the same journey as many of us, and you. I went from ciggalikes to the MVP2 and Aspire nautilus. Don't give up on the Nautilus, properly set up with BVC coils, mine hits hard, gives big vapor and the flavor is good. Sounds to me the Nautilus wasn't set up right. Mine can get spitty and gurggly if I don't maintain it every couple of days. That involves taking it apart completely, including the bottom spring pin, and putting it all back together clean and tight. Try doing a good clean and reset on the Nauti, put in a BVC coil and once the coil breaks in (about 20drags or so) go ahead and crank up the volts to see if you like it better. No need to start spending a bunch of cash until you know you need to first.

I don't know if you're a computer or car person or not.... But it has been said that you are only as fast as your tightest bottleneck.

Not enough RAM, bad Video Card, slow processor, lack of net neutrality = watching videos stinks

Clogged injectors, dirty air filter, old wiring = lack of pep and bad gas mileage.

Vaping is the same way - but your variables are - power, juice and air.

You've found a line of juice that you like, which is awesome... so focus on the other two...

I can say from experience going to the iStick (staying on a protank 2) made a HUGE difference. No falloff in power, more power to begin with, finer control of that power (Watts not volts). Not syaing it is the right answer for you, but regulated power is a game changer for a lot of people.

As far as air, cheapest answer would be to get the aero ring for your mini protank, simplest - an aerotank, best might be a rebuildable... but it is about comfort level.

Thanks for all the advice, guys! I've decided to get the itaste mvp and try that out before i get into mechanical mods. I just ordered the indulgence mutation x v2 rda and im really excited to try the dripping method! Ive been watching youtube videos all day to get coached up on how to build the rda. Do you have recommendations on the diameter for making coils, which wire to use, and cotton preferences? Thanks!!

I got dry burnt tastes from the tank when it was full of juice so i figured the coil was dunzo and needed replacement. Ive replaced a few coils after that and it hasnt been the same... Maybe bought a bad patch (i bought a pack of 5 so they were probably all from the same batch) i am also using 65% vg juice so maybe that had a factor with those coils too? Idk..

I know how you feel...all those expensive tanks are no good...I went threw them all and all types of mods too and I went back to the ego twists and those mt3's,16D, areotech is my favorite so far...just a basic bcctank areotech coil.... single or dual coil 1.8ohm's is fine, with a good battery and im getting the best vapor production I've ever had. Im not dealing with juice in the mouth amd having to shake it out...gurgling also. Those protanks and i clears that are big and bulky dont work good at all.
