First build, well 2 actually.

Did a dual coil kanthal A1 26gauge 8wrap each 2.5mm IDA (0.5ohm) build on my Zephyrus V2
Did a single coil kanthal A1 28gauge 10wrap 2.0mm IDA (1.5ohm) build on my Kayfun Lite Plus

Started with the Zeph, couldn't get the coils right until the 4th try, wicked it, primed it, installed and then leakage. User error, for some reason the RBA section got a bit undone from the base. Rebuilt it, 5th try, working like a charm...this thing chucks clouds.

The Kayfun Lite I got it on my first try, although IMO it was harder to install the coils than Zeph's RBA deck.

Noticed that DIY coils tend to gargle more? I actually prefer my DIY coils over the prebuilt 0.5ohm coils for taste and cloud...feels good to make your own coils

Some pictures of the Zeph (didn't take any Kayfuns)...

Suggestions?

You need advice on the gargling?

If were me i would make the coils longer so the wick comes from the ends of the coils and sit down into the channels without resting to much on the ledge where your airflow is, when you have wick resting on a ledge where the airflow is the wick tends to seep juice into it and will cause gargling. You could stretch your coils so they span the whole length of the airflow or make longer coils by having more wraps.

thanks for the advice, this was my first time trying building my own coils, only know that more coil material = more heating surface...didn't know that if you're coil length = air flow holes = no gargling...will keep that in mind for my next attempt.

Questions about wicking..is there a 1 size fit all kind of wicking or are all RTAs a bit different (some require wick to reach into the juice flow hole, some requiring wick to sit on top, etc)?

Nice work on the coils they look spot on, very clean :)

i cant really help you as far as dif rta's and the wick as i only have the Aromamizer and the Griffin, the griffin looks similar to yours but it has the airflow protruding a little so as you dont get any juice from the wick run into the airflow whereas your rta has the airflow coming up onto a flat surface which has the wick close by and could take on the juice from the wick a little easier.
In the griffin i just snug the wicks into the holes and then make sure no wick is going near the airholes :)

Thanks! Took me a while to get the coils right. I purchased the coil master v2 set with the coil making jig but the set is a replica and the jig doesn't really work so had to hand wrap them. Fingers kinda hurt.

I'm going to assume that there's no one size fit all wicking

I don't quite understand your question my friend, maybe make another post in the RTA section as there are more RTA's user likely to come across your post and understand where your coming from with your question :)

No every build is different. Even the same coil in a different atty can require different wicking and air. Heck the juice can even require adjustments to the wicking.

Thats the fun part of building your own. You can create your own vape. Trick is finding a great build you can repeat.
