I wanted to post my story so here goes:
First off I have not been smoking as long as many of you here, but I started smoking when I was 16 and was up to a pack a day by the time I was 20. Now I am 25, and 9 years of smoking has definitely caused me to be addicted not only physically to nicotine, but more importantly the oral fixation and puff of smoking itself. I first heard of e-cigs a year ago from a friend who had one. He did not have much success with it; I believe he had bought an over the counter cheap one from 7-11. At any rate although I was introduced to the concept, I had no idea of the depth of flavors and the great community that is ECF. =)
I made plan for myself that I would quit smoking and start running and hiking again, two things that smoking has ruined for me, by my 25th birthday. Well that day came and went and I was still smoking. I am not sure exactly why eventually decided to go online and buy an E-cig but I am sure glad that I did.
I searched the internet for reviews on PV's and made a really poor, uninformed decision based on a seemingly low price to purchase a PV from a company called South Beach Smoke. Their starter kit was only $29.99 so I thought that I was getting a good deal. I enjoyed it when I first got it, and after receiving it I found this forum. I realized shortly after that I had bought a piece of garbage. Their PV was incredibly hard to smoke, and their service is terrible. I do not recommend anyone dealing with them. That being said from having their product I learned that I really liked e-cigs and was determined to get a better one.
At the time with my sub par PV I was only able to cut down to about 15 analogs a day and I wasn't sure that it was going to work for me. After some research I ended up buying the Halo G6 earlier this week. They are local to me so I received my package in one day. (Great service at Halo by the way! Shout out to Jay!) The performance of the G6 is far superior to the previous one I had. I can actually smoke it without straining my lungs, the battery lasts longer etc. Anyway I have now been vaping with my G6 since Wednesday. Not a whole lot of time, sure, but vaping with this device has caused me to lose my taste for analogs. I still haven't quit them completely though. Right now I am down to having 5 yesterday and 4 today. I am hoping to be completely free of them by the end of the weekend and the only real obstacle is mental at this point. I don't know why I lit any of the 4 analogs that I smoked today, as they tasted horrible compared to the nice vanilla flavor that I have been vaping, made me feel terrible for a little while, and I ended up putting all of them out early instead of my usual smoke to the filter.
Also I went grocery shopping earlier and I wasn't able to stop myself from buying a new pack. It is just sitting here unopened though as I blow vapor on it. I suppose I am just so used to buying cigarettes all the time. Just another habit I will have to break.
In closing, I feel the PV has been very beneficial to me so far even though I have only had it a few days. I no longer cough from deep in my lungs and I am able to breathe much better. I am now excitedly waiting for more liquids to come in the mail on Monday (why did your day have to be on Friday veterans?
) and for a much more healthier and active life.
