Well, I'm 72 hours in, and haven't felt the urge to run to the store for a pack of Marlboro Reds yet. But, if it wasn't for these forums I doubt I would have even gotten out of the starting gate! :)

After a lot of research, I went w/ a 510 starter kit from Totally Wicked, (Like the 5 slot battery charger). But, I really haven't run into battery issues. I'm using a USB pass thru at home (Definitely recommend!), so batteries only an issue on the go.

For e-liquids, Tried a few flavors from both Johnson Creek and DYI Flavor Shack. High Nicotine mixes across the board. Favorites so far, the Summer Peach from JC, and the Thin Mint from DYI FS. The Summer Peach is really smooth, and so far my favorite. Thanks to all the good reads here, on getting away from tobacco "like" flavored e-juices. Still have a couple more flavors that I haven't opened yet, French Vanilla, Espresso, and Mint Chocolate Banana float. Dawn threw in a free sample (nice touch!), beach berry surpise. But, Totally Wicked had my extra Atty's back ordered, so have not wanted to mix flavors on the same Atty yet. The Capucinno flavor from DYI only disappointing flavor so far. It has a very "nutty" aftertaste to me. And it's not that I don't like it, just that it isn't true to the name.

As for functionality, really haven't had too many Cart issues, and "no" Atty issues at this point. I'm only dropping 4-6 drops into the stock carts, and then topping off, dripping a single drop onto the Atty. I don't mind the refueling efforts at this point. But, will probably start w/ some of the cart mods in the near future.

As for use, I'm really active, and most everywhere I go is "non smoking" now. Went to a jazz/R&B bar Friday night. Vaped discreetly all night long. One smoker caught me, so I let them hit my 510, they were amazed! :) I was 36 hours off Marlboro Reds at that point. Guy at the next table had gone out for a smoke, and did he "reek" when he came back in. Wow, can't believe I smelled that bad after running out for all my smoke breaks. Saturday, went to the KU/Mizzou football game at Arrowhead stadium. 70,000+ at the game, and I vaped all afternoon in my seat. :) Nobody said a word, though again, I was discreet. At half time, my date wanted a smoke, and at Arrowhead, you have to go out to the ramps to smoke, and we're talking several hundred people crammed into a small area. God, did it reek! I couldn't handle it for more than a couple of minutes. Later that night we went to Harrah's, partied, and I vaped in no smoking restaurant, and then at the bar, (next to all the smokers)...

End Result: I'm very pleased! :) Already breathing better, and I'm in pretty good shape, play 4.0 level tennis 3-4 times a week. Is vaping a perfect solution? No, but I'll work with the carts/mods, and get better as time moves forward. My USB pass-thru is a God-send! Spend the extra $12-20 for one! As it will eliminate the battery factor from 70% of your "vaping" efforts.

Do I miss my Marlboro Reds? Sure! I get cravings, but the vaping quickly eliminates them. Who knows what the hell else, Phillip Morris loads into those smokes, in addition to nicotine? The bottom line is, I do know that I was at a point where my physical conditioning could no longer compensate for the damage the Reds were slowly inflicting on me over a 30 year period. I would recommend a 100% switch from analogs to vaping. Do your research here, get stocked up correctly, and just do it!

Thanks to all the more experienced here, that made my transition very smooth! I had decided to quit smoking a few times before, and always went back to the "Reds" for one reason or another. Vaping is different than smoking, but it can work, if you put a solid plan into place.

You go, guy! Don't feel guilty if you give in a time or two. The cigarettes will eventually quit you. If the cravings get too bad, up your nic. I had to go from 18 up to 24. Now I'm down to 18 again--no cravings at all now. My next mix will be 16.....then.....You get the idea...:)

Vaping is awesome life changing greatness.

I was 1.5-2pk/day for 14 years. Before you know it your cravings will be for vapor not reds.

For cartridge filler mods check out rho ptb mod (aka double folded loosely rolled frayed Lipton pyramid tea bag mod)... it's easy to do and it works really well. I've been using it almost exclusively since my 3rd day vaping and I can go for hours without having to top up my cart. I tried it at home for a couple of days before I started taking it out with me and I haven't had any problems. Just experiment... different things work for different people.

Congratulations on getting off of tobacco!

Hey Chris, I did a lot of reading on cart mods, before I decided on the 510. Right now, i've just cycled through one set of 3 carts (will clean them up, and probably mod them this weekend). But, for now, I just wanted to keep things simple. I'm topping off a few drops, and then dripping direct. Thanks for the reference to the tea bag mod though, that's the one I was going to attempt first.

Good job! you can do it! :D

I started with SE Gold... the highest liquid they had was 18mg.... and for a few days its helped me but then I started to notice its not taking the edge off that I needed. I wish I had done my homework before hand. Definitely up the dose or have a few different mgs sitting around just in case it does happen.

I figured it would be easier to start at high doses, and wean down the Nic level over time, than get too weak, and be wanting to constantly Vape.
I still go through periods where I'll Vape pretty heavily, but I haven't "ever" hit the point where my body tells me, "Too Much Nic", shut it down! :)

I've been using JC 24mg juices for pretty heavy vape sessions, and DIY Flavorshack's 30-36mg juices for mornings and evenings (GREAT FLAVORS!)

At this point, I'm going to vape out at will, a little too much nic buzz, still a better trade off than light up an analog.

sweet dude you're awesome, just wanted you to know, I sometimes buy cigarettes only to end looking at them saying "wtf did I buy these"

black cow flavor is awesome but it doesn't taste like beef

Glad you're staying off the cigs stay strong for me <bats eyelashes> haha

I'm an 18 year smoker. I smoked my last analog on a monday evening and starting vaping. I haven't picked up an analog since and it's been almost 2 months. I like the feel of smoking but not the smell or the taste (odd I know since I smoked for so long), but vaping lets me choose the flavor and I don't have to deal with a horrid smell (nor does my non-smoking husband). I love the vaping and the freedom to be able to do it when and where I want.

Good luck and keep it up!
