IMHO, the 306's are better than 510 atties, buuuuut they are a distinct step down from the RM2. Fill your boots, though, always good to have one or two around in case of a calamity - I carry an old hh.357 when I travel for dire emergencies. You shouldn't need the drip shield as you'll be bottom feeding and have the catch cup.

Drip shield? No - it serves no function here.

Drip tip? It depends - there are a lot of 306 attys out there that come with one. Like these puppies. -> 306 Low Resistance Atomizer + Drip Tip - ecigExpress Great price, comes with a DT, 1.8 ohm is a good target for an unregulated Reo, seem to last forever. ECX has an ECF coupon code too so that will drop another 10% off the pricing.

You need to use 306 DT's - a 510 DT won't fit. If you want to up the experience you can get a 306 glass drip tip from a place like TheEcig.com - big air chamber, better experience.

You're cooking the juice. Juice can accumulate in the atty and if you vape before it all gets sucked back into the bottle (long wick tails can aggravate this), the heat of the coil will cook the juice (overheat it, not vape it), and when you next squonk, the cooked juice mixes with the new juice and the resultant slurry gets sucked back into the bottle.

To avoid this: squonk only when you need to, make sure the wick tails are not too long or obstructing the drain hole, let all the juice drain back out before vaping. Also, air flow (I've found) can affect this - generally, I've found more air = less cooking.

Hi,

I'm going to order a set of this for REO Mini use: Cisco LR306 Atomizer + Drip Tip Special - Avid Vaper

But I'm scratching my head about the Ohm to choose. Please advise.

I'm gonna stick to 510 & 306 attys first before I read up on using & rebuilding the RM2. I have the 510 set from them and I love it!! (using it on the evod2).

It's still a personal choice but I prefer 1.8 ohm for the best overall "ride" on an unregulated mod. 1.5 ohm is too hot for me in general, especially when the battery is freshly charged and running at it's highest voltage.

Yep...personal choice. If you prefer sweet juices, I would stick to 1.8-2.0. If you're more into tobacco flavors, then the 1.5 may be the one for you. :) I loved my 306s before I got my RM2. They were my favorite atty.

That being said...you can flood it, and it will steal your vapor, heat & flavor. I prefer a moist vape (not dry & hot). So here is an example of my experience.

Here is the 306 at rest.

Too much juice...flooding the atty.

Just riiiiight....

I suggest getting at least a translucent drip tip for your first one. It will help you get used to it seeing where the juice is in your atty. I always liked the glass ones, because it changed the vape....tasted more clean & pure, somehow. Perhaps it was just in my head. LOL!

UPDATE: I'm now set up with the 510 & 306 attys, and an Omnitester. When I tested mine, they all read "2.6o". How do I interpret this reading? Is this good? I still am having trouble understanding how the atty & battery voltage (?) relate together. Yep, I'm full of questions.

I think RFs suggestion is right on for an unregulated mechanical mod
"If you prefer sweet juices, I would stick to 1.8-2.0. If you're more into tobacco flavors, then the 1.5 may be the one for you"

2.6ohm resistance would be more for a regulated VV or VW mod

I don't suppose I can do anything to tweak them lower? Are the SR 510s @2.6 ohm dangerous to use with my REO?

Thinking aloud here--my goal for coil building w/the RM2 is to make wicks & coils in the same resistance range as my LR 306 1.8 ohm Atty?? Sound about right, especially since I do prefer high VG and sweet juices?

They are not dangerous to use, you just need a regulated mod to get the voltage well over 4 volts or wattage over 8 watts
My VV REO Grand and ProVaris have no problem doing 2.6 ohms
A good general rule is if you add 2 to the reistance and set the voltage for that value you will be at or slightly over 8 watts
2.6 ohm + 2 = 4.6 volts
(4.6 volts squared = 21.16) divided by 2.6 ohms = 8.138 watts
!!! Works every time !!!

The 306 attys are disposable and I can't imagine a method for tweaking them to lower resistance
The resistance wire used is so thin and fragile
If you get one to last more than a week your really pushing your luck
I've seen old youtube videos showing people removing the bridge and wick from 306 and even 510 atomizers
But the RBAs have been around for years now, nobody bothers trying to tweak them anymore

This is contrary to my experience.
I used "bridgeless 306" exclusively for years, they lasted somewhere between 4 weeks and 6 month.
If I remember correctly, I went through 14 of them (1.5 and 1.8 ohms) in 2.5 years.

If I see any problem, it must be the mechanical stability.
They have a relatively long shape and it doesn't take much to break the sheeting, if mounted on a Reo.
I destroyed two of them just by carrying the Reo in my pocket.

To sum it up:
- very good taste (especially the bridgeless)
- strictly mouth to lung, no direct lung hits
- mediocre mechanical stability, no trouser pocketing
- disposables, thus chances for DOA
- no tweaking, take it or leave it

I switched to RBAs a year ago, but I still have some in my shelf, just in case.

I did have 1 that lasted about 3 months
In the 4 years that I used disposable atomizers
I mainly use them as emergency backup atomizers now
