So u just recently bought an authentic VW nemesis, using it with a kayfun and omega clone. Been reading a lot about batteries and it seems that generally if ur sub ohming its best to use a 30a battery. I'm just not into sub ohming and am more about my flavor than chasing clouds. Can I still use a 30a battery vtc5 Sony, even when I'm not going sub ohm?

Thx guys <3

There's too many variables to get specific, but I get close to 2 days out of my 2100 mAh 30A batteries running my Kayfun unregulated with a 1.8 ohm coil before I decide the power has dropped off enough to charge it.

But most of the time I run it with a Kick unless I'm subohming. I only subohm to show off, so I can't tell you how long a fully charged battery would last doing that.

The variables are your resistance in Ohms, how heavily you vape, even how long you hold the button to take a hit. For me I stay 0.9-1.1 on a Reo Grand with an RM2 and I prefer my batteries not to drop below 3.7 so I usually put in a fresh battery once a day...sometimes twice if I vape super heavily for a good while (like while watching movies on a sunday afternoon lol :) )

To learn about the resistance and how that affects battery life - its a simple formula and you can also google "Ohms Law Calculator" or download a free ohms law calculator app if you dont wanna literally do the math. The formula is Volts divided by Ohms = Amps - so for example 4.2V (always use this with a mech as it is a fully charged battery)

4.2V/0.9O= 4.66 A with a 30 Amp battery, that means you are only drawing about 1/6th and your battery will have a more lasting life than if you were using a build with 0.5 Ohms drawing 8.4 or almost a third of the battery's abilities.

Ok, great info so far and I appreciate you two and what u said. I think we are getting a bit off course in that, a 30amp battery I will be able to use it *unregulated, in not just sub ohm builds but where I really want to be. Which is at about 1.3-1.8 ohms.:D

Correct - the math on the amp draw just gives you an idea on how taxing you are on the battery. At 1.3 you will be less taxing than 0.9 and so on to determine how what you are using affects your battery life.

Sure can!!! It will cover more ground when you decide to cross into Cloud Country.

Absolutely.

I use 30A batteries in my Nemesis with a Kick2 which limits me to 3A. It works just fine, and I only have to remove the Kick ring with the Kick unit inside if I feel the desire to subohm.

I have the same setup & havnt really been flavour happy yet... I run a striker rda, nemesis mod, kick2, vtc4... what coil & ohm would you recomend for best flavour at what Wattage ??

There is absolutely no reason you couldn't. The 30a limit is just that.. a maximum limit your battery is rated to output. Even if you fall way short of that, the MaH rating is the same. The general rule WAS that you get more Milliamp hours out of a lower amp rated battery than you could with a higher amp rated battery, but that is starting to change. Those Sony VTC5's have quite a high ammount of Milliamp hours. There's almost no reason now NOT to get a 30a battery.

One positive note on getting a VTC5, is the amp limit usually not only increases the discharge ammount, but also the REcharge limit. You'll have a safer battery when you are recharging it as well.
