Made the switch just a few days and I'm keeping the faith so far. Honestly, it's been easier than I thought so far; but my SO is a smoker of the analogs so I have to make sure to avoid that, even being around it so I'm not tempted.

Sorry to be long-winded but want to explain well, so this won't be problems for others.

I have 2 eGo batteries and am having trouble with both. I had a Ismoka BCC Mega tank that I used for a while that only that utilized the smaller inside threads on the batteries. The BCC tank has small male threads and used the small female threads of the batteries only and didnt fit very well in them. Well, after using that tank quite a while, the female threads of both my batteries are stripped. Even my CE4 clearos won't stay on well anymore. I have always been careful not to over tighten anything to not strip anything out, but I did carry it in my pocket a bit and may have been problematic.

I have one T2 clearo that only uses the outside threads of the batteries, but despite cleaning both coils I have for it, the T2 barely works. Eeep... Help with the battery issue would be appreciated!

Questions
1. What are the inside and outside threads of the ego batteries called?

2. By searching the site, I've found the tip to use a small piece of copper wire to fill-in the space of the threads. I also read about an air control device that goes between the battery and the clearo. Anyone have a link to this for that might work for my ego batteries? And/or a link to an adapter that can sit on the batteries to provide good threads? I really would like the air control though if one exists that will go on a ego battery.

3. Is there a common deal thread that has a good place for sales and deals for vendors?

So far so good with quitting analogs, other than the battery issues.

Huge thanks in advance to those that can help!!

Hello :) sorry about the issues it's never a fun thing. The threads are eGo 510 unlike regular 510 they fit with eGos outside threads. If your 510 connection (where atomizer connects to battery) are trashed you're going to have a hard time, because you're not getting the power to fuel the clearomizer. You may want to search the forum on how to do a re-thread. If you're looking for a cheap eGo battery I highly recommend the carpax 900 mah colored batteries. I bought one from Madvapes and it has outlasted all of my eGos. Other vendors carry them as well. Hope all this is not to much to take in.

Worse than over tightening is having the PV and tank/ carto/ clearo "buckle" at the point at which they're connected. If the juice delivery device (holds and vaporizes the juice) is moved back and forth enuff times the soft brass PV threads will become stripped. Best not to put it in your pocket- either use a lanyard or a belt holster.

A 510- 510 adapter does the same thing but the air flow controller looks nicer.

Baranox - not sure how mechanically inclined you are but if you're interested I can swing by the shop this afternoon and see what's laying around as far as broken Ego's. For a while, they had issues with the top caps coming off on people and instead of attempting repairs, they just replaced them. I can probably grab a couple of the pulled out caps and send them your way if you would like to attempt to swap them out. That would take care of you thread issues for now at least.

The only other band-aid fix I've heard of is using teflon tape to fill in some of the gap around the threads but that will all depend on if there is still enough of a thread to fill.

Your question may have already been answered, but here is an illustration of eGo threading:

Teflon releases toxic fumes when exposed to heat. Not great when cooking, but there is air around to dissipate it (although it can kill pet birds). I know using it as Dly suggested wouldn't expose it heat, but I wouldn't use it on a device I planned to inhale from.

I've stripped the 510 threads on both of my original egos. I use Evods on them because they only use the ego threading. It's always interesting to get them on the charger, but even barely threaded they're still charge-able. I've since learned to not switch clearos as often and to be wary of over-tightening.

The fume danger part of this is true but to reach the temp to achieve the fumes is impossible. Teflon begins to deteriorate at 680 degrees farenheit. No where on or near the threads would you be within even 500 degrees of danger.
I've known quite a few people who have used PTFE for temporary fixes in this same situation. I work with this stuff on a daily basis and wouldn't even mention it if there's was even the most remote possibility of danger.

Thank you for the offer, very kind of you Sir to offer to send those my way. I think I'm good for now though. After searching for answers on here prior to posting, I found the thread about using a small piece of copper wire, and along with your suggestions, to add a small amount of soft material to fill-in the space between the threads. I'm doing something similar, but with a tiny piece of plastic perpendicular to the threading. I'm good for now though; appreciate the offer!

For a longer term fix, and to prevent this problem going forward, I'll be sure to handle the threaded areas more carefully, and disassemble before pocketing, and make sure not to tighten more than needed beyond just barely snugging things up just to make the contacts. Also, I have ordered some 510 to 510 adapters for a permanent fix for the problematic batteries.

I really appreciate everyone's input, suggestions, and help. Happy vaping!
