4 Months Have Passed

As you can see from my signature, I have now been cigarette free for 4 months, and it is all thanks to the e-cig. As I am crossing yet another milestone in my lifelong journey of quitting, I thought I would share some tips with the newbies out there.

1. e-cig selection: get something simple and with a big battery life. An eGo (non-tank) would be my #1 recommendation for any beginner. They are simple to use; parts are available at almost every dealer (they use 510 parts); and the battery life is great. Don't worry about the look or feel (i.e. they are not similar to a cigarette) as you will get over that very quickly. I have tried three different types of ecigs, and I still go back to my eGo for my daily use puffer.

2. You may not like your first choice of juices, but don't give up. I started with all tobacco flavours before I figured out that I didn't actually like any of them. I am now a die hard Mental Menthol (Juicy Clear) vaper, with the occasion fruit flavour thrown in for good measure. Try lots of brands to see what works for you.

3. You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink. I've tried to convert 9 people to e-cigs so far and only one person has stuck with it. Don't be discouraged by this - you can only do so much.

4. Even after 4 months I still have cravings for cigarettes (the last two weeks have been particularly bad as I've played an awful lot of golf (used to smoke a pack during a round)). Your e-cig will get you through if you rely on it. Don't give up.

5. Spend the money you have saved from not smoking on a treat for yourself. I bought myself a PS3 and that didn't even come close to blowing all the savings I've seen.

6. Enjoy your new found lung capacity and lack of phlegm in the morning. Go for a run or bike ride.

7. Enjoy your sense of taste and smell by trying new foods and drinks.

If anyone has any questions for me, I will do my best to answer when I can.

Stay strong!
