My mind still goes to the analogs quite often but I pick up the E-Cig instead and it's still working. Good luck and keep trying, I know I plan to. I just can't wait till I feel I can honestly say I'M A NON-Smoker!! One Day!

Have been there with the mind saying--oh please, just one little puff. Usually when I see someone on TV with a cig or do something that I used to reward myself with a smoke. But almost 2 mo. into this vaping business and I never even think of cigs. That will happen to you soon, too. I swear that the flavors of juices did it for me--how can you choose a cig over chocolate/banana or french vanilla or on and on and on. I don't think I will ever get tired of this vaping thing, though I hope that one day I will be vaping at 0 nicotine.

First thing's first. You can't hit an ecig the same way you smoked a cig outta the pack. Not unless you want a mouth full of juice, anyway.

Next, if your thoat is burning, get a lower pg version ejuice. Get some diff nic strengths and flavors. I use a stronger nic at work, as I can only get away from my desk a few times a day. Lesser strength at home, where I pretty much chain vape.

I also lean to 50-100% vg. I'm not big on the throat hit thing, and am more into the warm vape that comes from a dual top coil low resistance atty, at relatively high wattage.

You really have to want it, to make it work. I'm a single parent, and my child sure knows how to pack my bags and take me on a guilt trip (what if you die, Daddy, before you teach me everything I need to learn?). That's what got me started on vaping.

I tried a "regular" cig about a month ago on a stressed out day, I couldn't finish... It tasted bitter/sour and had an ammonia aftertaste. If you can get over the initial hump, it's pretty easy to stick with it.

7 months ago, a severe brain stem stroke almost killed me at 37, left me partially paralyzed on my rt side, along with countless other things. I know I have to stop analogs, but I just didn't WANT to quit! I'm already adjusting to so many other changes now, they are like my security blanket. About 5 wks ago, my hubby took me to the local vape shop. I got an ego style battery, a dew clearos, and a kanger evod. I used it while I was places I couldn't smoke and it was a hassle now for me to just get up and walk to the parking lot when I'm at my kids ball games, ect. I have ordered a handful of juices, and a ton of new gear. I never put analogs down, just got used to vapeing on top of it. Well, I still have tons to learn and tons to try, but today I didn't have my first analog till 1 in the afternoon. I have had 6 so far today. Pushing myself a little farther today. But everyone on here told me not to tell myself I was quitting analogs, just that I was taking up vaping also. And since I thought of it like that, I find the pressure I put on myself has lifted and I'm smoking a little less everyday this wk. I'm looking forward to buying more juices, seeing what I really love, but don't pressure yourself, it's working for me. And watch vids on all the probs you're having. I watch vids a ton, and read a ton on here, and am slowly educating myself. Everyone here has been so supportive! I just keep saying I'm not quitting, just adding something new into the mix, and whattya know! It's slowly working!

Trial and error hasn't worked for me to be honest. It's just led me further away from ecigs.

I hate to be the only one who didn't get hooked so fast as everyone else here.

But its true, its not a fail-safe alternative to smoking as everyone proclaims.

You're not gonna get hooked if your device isn't producing good vapor.
I don't proclaim vaping is a fail-safe alternative.
May proclaim a substandard PV could end in failure.

You're very welcome! And although most days are rough, I'm alive and here to give this a shot. Don't give up again, just try to enjoy a new hobby and see where it takes you! And IF you end up quitting, more power to YOU! I'd love to know how it goes! Keep us updated!

Here's the thing, you are not allowing yourself to learn. Do you know why you are getting a mouthful of ejuice? Are you pulling really hard on your e-cig? If it feels like it's burning your throat, have you tried lowering the nicotine to 12mg instead of 18mg? In other words, have you tried anything other than buying new gear? If you don't have the will to troubleshoot and give up smoking, you won't do it.

Everyone here has given you a lot of good advice that should've solved your issue. Drawing gently, lowering your nicotine, getting new juice (50/50 PG/VG is a great starting point), finding the right flavor. I'm at that point where I take a drag off a cigarette and I want to puke. It's awful. I could never look back. This won't magically work for you, you have to make it work for yourself. Willpower is key regardless of how good a product is.

You'd hardly be the only one. Many people have tried and walked away. Some come back to try one more time and either succeed or not; others just disappear. Many of ECF old-timers still sneak a cig or two. Others supplement their vaping with snus or dissolvable tobacco. A lucky few put down their paper cigs the minute they open their first vape mail.

Nothing is fail-safe. But every cigarette not smoked thanks to vaping is a little victory. Baby steps.

As my daughter likes to say, if at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you. ;)

But vaping is OK!

Thank you so much Katya! You have been a great support! I will be honest, I fell apart shortly after my victory post, due to some very snarky posters on another thread. Whether it be from me misunderstanding the true context of the OP, or my brain not being able to properly say what I was thinking. Probably a bit of both if I'm honest! But as I sat here chain smoking, getting kind of put down, I realized they didn't know I can't properly articulate (yea! That was a good for me to get so late into the night! Lol!) most of the time what I'm really thinking due to my stroke. So, I took a breath, put the cigs down, explained, cause that's all I can really do, and will hope for a better tomorrow, or today, depending where one lives. I'm still celebrating the fact that I didn't smoke analog with coffee, of after breakfast and lunch! My # was shot to hell but it's about what I did accomplish, not what I didn't!

You have been supportive since post 1 of me, and I appreciate it so much! Thank you for your encouragement!

JCH, I will stick to one of my standbys and that is that, just like high performance athletes, one has to "prepare the mind" a bit sometimes to accomplish things, because its NEVER just a physical accomplishment, quitting smoking or running a marathon.

I highly recommend Alan Carr's EasyWay to Quit Smoking. Look it up on amazon, fabulous reviews, read it while smoking. :) It's not the usual scare tactics or any of that nonsense.......Mr. Carr will help you "get your mind right". I think you may want to vape more after you read it. I started reading it before vaping.

I picked it up again when I wanted to make sure I didn't go back to unhealthy eating habits (sugar, etc.) and again, it helped me a whole lot.

YOu do have to WANT to quit, and maybe this will help you

Maybe you just don't want to switch to e cigs, or quit smoking. You need to strengthen the willpower. Also, maybe the setups you bought are not right for you. Once I started vaping, I never look back. Now it has been several months. To read more new vaper guidelines and learn to DIY the coils, I believe you'll fall in love with e cigs.

Anytime. :D

Early morning????

While you and I are in the wee hours of the morn, I guess in NY, some would be starting their day. Much like I will be in just 3 short hours! Also, thanks for the hugs and kisses, think I needed em, they kinda beat me up good! I guess I just need to learn that no matter the forum, or whatever, there will always be a group of people who feel the need to basically tell people their stupid, in not so many words. Oh well.....maybe I really shouldn't be so sensitive what people who know nothing about me or how I perceive things actually think of me, or what they have to say to me.
