4 years vaping. 4 years not smoking.

I forget what it was like to be a smoker. The triggers are gone at this point.

I really do not know what my future is with vaping. At this time I have no desire to quit vaping, yet I have been coming down on my nicotine over the past 6 months. I was using 15mg liquid for over 3 years. But since I DIY, I decided to come down a little at a time and see how it worked for me. I mixed 14mg and then 13mg for awhile and I am currently at 12 mg and really have not noticed much difference. I didn't vape more when I went down in strength. I may continue to slowly mix down and see where it goes. I am not afraid of going back to smoking.....that option is 100% off the table, and I am no longer afraid of the temptation.

The only issue I grapple with now is that I really enjoy vaping! I don't think it is the nicotine as much as it is the enjoyment of vaping for me. I don't know that with 100% certainty since I have not tried 0mg yet, but I think that may be on the horizon sometime this next year. I am not a throat hit chaser, a cloud chaser,....heck I keep it pretty simple with a VV mod, carto tanks and LR cartos.

I am proof that vaping does have a success element to it. It is a conscious choice we all make to utilize alternative harm reduction tools such as vaping and we have the power to make it a success or not. Wishing all of you a successful path as well!

Bring on year 5. :)

Congratulations!

A for what it's worth thing. Worked my way down to 0 nic and stayed there for a bit just to prove to myself I could it. Then bumped back to 3mg. Couldn't tell a difference at 1 or 2 though some people can. I just feel better with a little nic in my system. Smoked 4/5ths of my life so it doesn't really surprise me. Don't feel a nic buzz, just more even keeled I guess. Obviously the important thing is that we don't smoke. :toast: to many more smoke free years to you!

Congratulations, well done!

Just out of curiosity, why do you find vaping (or not) an "issue to grapple with"?

Great question! I may have poorly chosen my words there.......I think I just wonder if vaping is still something I truly NEED to do, if it is something I just WANT to do, and if I really need it to not smoke. I think I have passed the point of needing to do it to not smoke. I think I started thinking about my future in terms of "is this going to be with me forever, or will I eventually not vape anymore". Shoot, I enjoy it too much right now to want to stop, but I may start tinkering around with lowering my nicotine levels a little bit. I don't see myself not vaping. I really do enjoy it. :)

I agree MGM....I don't believe nicotine is all bad either. :)

Kodiak: lol you nailed it with what you posted! man, I tell ya what, our choices back in 2010 were pretty bad compared to the goodies we can use to vape with now. It was blue aquarium filler with an atty or it was a standard carto. LR cartos had not emerged on the market yet when I started! No tanks. No variable voltage. The big huge arrival to market shortly after I started vaping was the REO. I started on standard cartos and cig alike batteries. Ego's were gaining momentum at the time. It was crazy how primitive it was compared to now!

RIMP I remember you too! :)

Congrats NICnurse :toast:

I have so much respect for you early adopters of this. Today, we whine about high wattage ("what... only 20 watts??!") and which of the 30 or so RDA choices is better with 28 or 30 gauge kanthal. All of that is only possible because peeps like you made this a market. Thank you.

Congrats! I am at almost a year, but I believe I will be vaping at five years, no desire or need to stop vaping. It is more of a hobby to me now (expensive one lol) I still use 18mg nic, may drop it eventually, but not really worried about the nicotine. I feel I accomplished what I wanted to already by giving up smoking. IMO Everyone should do what's right for them and feel good about it no matter what others think.
