I started w/ the 401 and it did me well for a while. All batteries come from China but there are different companies in China that make them. I always had good luck w/ genuine Smoore batteries for the M series. Even w/ that you have to be careful not to get juice inside them and clean the threads often. Even the manuals are not sealed.

Check out the M series sub forum. I think they even have a list for current suppliers.

The 401 might be a 3.7V output battery. The 501 family is 3.1V, which explains it running cooler, less TH for a given resistance. You might want to try a KR808D-1, another 3.7V output PV; NHaler, vapor4life (their VaporKing), vaporsetc, lots of places sell 808, else try a 510 family PV with a 2 ohm atomizer or cartomizer.

Thanks for the reply. Does the fluid short out the bats or something? What model do you use now. I've tried to 901 and 510 but neither seem to provide the throat hit that the 401 does.

Yes, the fluid will ruin a battery from any model if they're not sealed. Auto batts are not sealed and manual's are but not the 401's. I didn't suggest other models since your question was for the 401. I did like it for a while, it was the tiny carts that made me switch (although there are cartomizers for these now).

I went to the KR808 D-1 and then to a box mod and Vgo. If you're happy w/ the 401 minus the batteries you may still want to look at genuine Smoore batts but keep them clean. I still use my 401 to test flavors, can't beat that atty for flavor imo.

Or there's always trying another model. That's part of the journey of vaping, finding the right unit for you. Some keep looking and others find it sooner.

Be careful with really low resistance atomizers on 510/Riva/eGo, because of too high a draw (current), which may cause premature failure.

You should be able to e-mail any seller, ask them for what the ohms are on the product they are selling. If they call it an LR, they definitely should know its design resistance.

Just a heads-up, in case you go that route. Me, I like my 808s, though I'm about to test an eGo that I got really cheap, for kicks; I definitely don't intend to use any of the nominal 1.5 ohm products on it -- they're OK, just not a clean match for the normal 510 family batteries.

Good luck!

Thanks to both of you. Sorry Turbo for requesting info. on your equipment. I just noticed your sig. at the bottom, "Vaping arsenal"

Oh, no problem at all, happy to tell you. I just didn't want to give you my equipment info unless you asked, since your question was aimed toward the 401.
