what attys would you recommend I just placed a order for one and haven't bought any atties yet because I dont know? Regular atties?

Regular Joye 510s, ~2.3 ohms, work very well at 5V. You do need to keep them wet though to get long life out of them at 5V.

You can get 10 of them for around $46 at Vapor Kings.

I just use standard atties when I'm vaping at 5V. Using LR is just asking to lose an atty, burn your lips or both.

This. Also, FYI. A "regular/standard" 510 atty is 2.8 - 3.1 Ω, not 2.3. I use 3.0 Ω atties too at 5 v.

Use V * V / R to get watts. You probably want about 7 or 8 watts for any given setup. YMMV.

So, if you use 8 watts as a target, and re-work the equation, it's Voltage squared divided by your target watts.

Thus: 5 * 5 / 8 watts = 3.1 ohms. See? Now you just need to know your personal ohm target. 7 or 8 is usually in the ballpark.

A 2.0 ohm LR atty at 5 volts is (using V * V / R) 25/2.0 = 12.5 watts. Yeow! Too Hot. 1.5 ohm even worse!

Summary:

V² / Ω = watts
V² / watts = Ω
