Well my 510 just got here, literally about 2 hours ago, and I just got it from the mailbox about 30 minutes ago. So I take it out and start looking around for instructions on this and that. Finally get it assembled and I think I got enough juice in the cart. So heres my questions.

The flavor is really noticable, but the vapor, not so much! Is it just that it's new and hasn't broken in yet? I guess it could also be that I took the battery right out and screwed it on hoping for optimal results :p I guess I should give the other one time to charge and give it a try then. Though it suggests an 8 hour charge time, 20 mins of use, then another few hours. I suppose after that it should be working properly? I guess I should give it time, I'm just so excited and want it to work properly now heh.

Also, I'm getting a bit of a whistling sound when I inhale on it. Is that normal? will it go away?

Thanks for your time!

I have a DSE103 and notice a small whistle when I inhale as well, but nothing enough to really bother me. I started with some PG carts until I ran out, and then made some VG eliquid and the vapor difference is very noticeable. Way more smoke(vape) rings with the VG than the PG. So I recommend looking into some VG, just go to walmart or hobby lobby or CVS and find some VG and you can do a 50/50 mix if you want. Might lose some flavor so I recommend Loranns flavoring from either walmart, online, or hobby lobby or any candy/baking store. Hope it helps!

Hi Saitek! Yeah getting your 510! I was gonna suggest a longer, softer draw but I remember now you had a greensmoke for a week so you probably figured that out already. I second Brad on charging up the batts and making sure the batting on the cart you use is good and damp. Did your juice come in too? If so, try that it might be better for vapor than the stock stuff. cheers!

Wow! Thanks for all the help guys, I'm still pretty novice at the drag technique for them. I think that's what was causing it. I was taking too hard of a drag and that caused the whistle, the vapor thing isn't huge to me. If it does become so I'll keep the other liquid in mind or the 50/50 mix. All sounds wonderful! I may have under filled the cart, and a out of the box charged battery probably isn't helping. I'm sure by tomorrow I will be singing the praises of the 510. Thanks for the help guys, I love the quick responses and informative posts of this forum. The overall friendly atmosphere is also great I can't get over it heh.

Thanks again!

Hey Saitek--welcome the world of the 510 learning curve. Just a couple tips I have picked up along the way.
1. longer, softer draws makes a big difference with throat hit and vapor.
2. charged batteries help--consensus says that when the light on the charger turns green, the battery is charged.
3. Did you get extra liquid with your order--If so, just drop 1-2 directly to the atomizer coil. (dripping) will help immensely with vapor, flavor and throat hit.
1-2 drops is usually good for about 5-6 draws.
4. top off cart until the top looks wet and no more liquid will absorb.
5. 510's do not flood easily
6. if the atty feels like it is getting a bit hot--let it cool a bit.
7. relax and enjoy--questions--ask !!!

Happy Vaping:)

Alright! Sounds good. The manual suggested a weird pre charging ritual charge thing so I guess I can just go right into it if you all are saying you did. Hopefully I can clean this grape flavor out from when I was trying earlier heh. It was quite prominent. yea the learning curve seems to be there, Guess I'll just have to take it in time and hopefully I'll be a natural soon! Well time to give a second go with a charged battery and fresh cart. Let's see how this time around goes.

Hey so I figured I would just bump my old threat hoping someone will pop in, instead of making a new one to clutter up the forum. Anyway so I've been vaping off my 510 and first I decided to try the grape, well. I didn't like it a whole lot, so I decided to switch to my Camel since that's what I smoked before turning to vaping so I figured I would like it. Problem is I blew out my old atty, swabbed it blew it out swabbed it again and it still tastes like Grape pretty heavilty even after about an hour of vaping off hoping to burn off the old grape. I did drip a bit onto the atty tog et it started the first time, is that something I'm going to need to wash off? If so what is the easiest / cheapest way to thoroughly clean the grape taste off? I guess I should switch to the second atty that it came with... anyway any help on the matter would be appreciated. I youtubed around but all I found was moobyghost. And I did what he said but the flavor is just still there so drastically.

Yea I think I just needed refinement on my technique for dragging. The whistling has stopped and the vapor has increased with my charged battery and everything put together I think properly, lol. Now I'm just concerned about the constant grape taste. Is it really so powerful that it survives through a battery change, an atty change, and a cart change? It is ridiculous. I am changing everything right now to try and get rid of it. I am drinking soda right now, but it's mountain dew I even had my brother test it he says it's still there this is really annoying lol. I got tired of that flavor really quick(Worth a try, though.) But I want it to go away heh.

Yea I sure did. Until I was almost lightheaded! I suppose I'll have to rinse it in something fairly strong to get rid of the taste. It's still there in a new battery and atty. Seeping down into the cart I should change that too. But I think I've started an endless cycle of it contaminating the new pieces I put on one by one so it will forever be with me. ....

Just for future reference. I keep 3 attys minimum going at all times. One for tobacco, one for menthol or atomic fireball and one for other flavors like the really sweet/fruity. It's a lot easier to change similar flavors without doing anything more than blowing out the atty if even that.

It does sound like you have cross contaminated all your stuff. Your grape will eventually go away.

I think I can taste it going away, thankfully. It really was an overpowering taste. I hope other flavors aren't so prominent(This is also me shamelessly raising post count.) Also I really didn't think I'd enjoy a PV that wasn't colored/shaped like a normal cigarette but, I have really grown to like the way they all look because they're different. Plus my old unit just reminded me of analogs alllll the time. I killed the cravings with a puff or two but still. Always on my mind. With these all I think about is drag drag .... attys hot give it a few. But I want to keep puffing :( lol. I may blow out these attys for that reason prematurely heh. Hopefully not!

Vegetable Glycerin is used a lot in baking, making candy, and now for us to use in our vaping. They say it is sweeter than PG and makes more vapor, and I agree with both claims. VG is also a little healthier then Propelyne Glycol. Propelyne Glycol is used a lot in smoke/fog machines. A lot of vendors are moving to VG from PG, but some say that VG is too thick and can clog an atty. I'm still a newb, but that's the gist of it from what I know.
