I've been considering getting some mega batteries for my new 510, but the more I look the more it seems like the 510 mega is a completely different beast. Ther e ar atomizers which are apparently not compatible, and batteries that are not compatible but still might be. It is very confusing. The 510 mega atomizers do look longer. What exactly is the difference here?

It's slightly confusing, especially with all the eGo-atties not being namend consistantly, either.

The 510 mega means either longer batteries (with 280 mAh instead of 180 mAh) or longer atties which also need longer carts. Same diameter as a standard 510, though. Regular 510 and mega 510 are exchangeable, so you can use the mega batteries with the regular carts.

Just make sure it's all coming from one company. The Joye batteries are regulated and their atties made for regulated batteries, most of the clones are not. That doesn't mix too well.

The mega atties are simply longer and deeper than the std 510 atties, use a longer cartridge which holds more liquid. The carts for std 510 do not fit a mega atty, and the carts for a mega atty do not fit a std 510. So the advantage to the mega atty/cart combination is simply that you will get more draws per fill since the cart holds more. However, this also means a longer ecig, since the mega atty and the mega cart are both longer than the standard. And as to the batteries, the std atty/cart and the mega atty/cart will fit either the std or mega or xl 510 batteries or the eGo/Riva/etc..
