You could try to carefully push it back under the metal bridge with a toothpick or straightened paperclip.

Removing it can cause wicking problems. Some people always remove it, but personally I wouldn't.

There is a whole thread on it, but bear in mind that the first several posts are assuming it is cart fiber, but it is wicking material that belongs there:

i've yet to find anything to improve draw honestly.

I've dismantled old attys that were "clogged" and I can't find where the air flow was getting blocked.

Btw, those fibers under the bridge help bring eliquid to the heating coil. Do not remove them and be careful not to burn them.

I've never taken one apart but have noticed the draw getting a bit harder the longer you use it. One thing that helps from the start is to use a 901 cart on a 510. Much easier draw (almost too easy IMO).

The 901 cart fits a bit tighter that the standard 510 cart, but I consider this to be an advantage. I also believe that the 901 cart hols more liquid.

I really, really like the 901 whistle tip on my 510.... don't see myself going back to any of the 510 cart styles.

I can see that tighter fit as an advantage too. I've noticed that reusing the standard 510 carts leads to looseness. More liquid would be a bonus. Thanks!

For what little it's worth, I've found that I prefer the "straw mod" with original polyfill on the 901 carts, while the PTB works better for me on the 510's (I only have 4 black 901 carts, so I'm still using the 510's sometimes).
