I tried and failed myself. The thing appears to be pressed together and soldered on the inside. I cut one up with a pipe cutter and that was kind of a mistake. I've got a theory that you might be able to get it apart in a repairable way by getting a dremel tool and some jewlers files and cutting a couple small slots in the fors half centimeter or so of the tube on both ends to release the pressure on the end pieces whch might allow you to get them out with apair of pliers. The problem is you are alomst certain o break the wire since the stupid things are just soldered. i'd really like to see someone make a 510 battery that is actually serviceable. like a little tiny flashlight. 90% of the problems with automatic batteries seems to be liquid getting into and gumming up the little plastic pressure switch. If they were cleanable, auto batteries woudl be a much more viable option.

You can take it apart; by taking off the ash-cap, and yanking out the led, battery and switch, but afaik, you'll ruin the led and battery when you do.
How long have you had it?
If it's still under warranty, get it replaced. If not, either buy a new one, or (my suggestion), if you were replacing the switch anyway, cut it about 1/8 in below (toward the atty connector) the opening for the switch, solder new wires to the center post (+) and the outside of the batt connector (-), and build yourself a mod... :smokie:
