510 Battery Life?

Hi,

It's the end of my third day using the Joye 510. I love this thing.

I've got questions about the battery life.

I charged each one for 8 hours (one after the other)
used each one for 40 minutes, and then charged each one again for at least an hour.

For the first day or two I was getting something like 2 hours from each battery. But today, at the end of my third day I sat down to a fresh battery, pulled it off the charger and connected it, and have been reading this forum for the last 20 minutes -- completely chain vaping -- but now, barely 230 minutes later the battery is dead.

Is this typical? Or have I got a dud on my hands?

I already ordered the mega batteries from TW, they should be here day after tomorrow. Still it would be really nice to have batteries which last more than a few days, right?

What am I to learn from this?

Is the battery defective? Should I avoid chain vaping?
How long do the stock one's last for you? How do you do it?

Depends on what you consider chain vaping.

Some did the math and if you vape consistently, your battery should last 4.5 minutes but that's like a 4.5 minute draw. Not sure if this is right, but just what I heard.

So if you're going at it hard, it won't last long.

What I find is that if I need to go at my 510 that hard and that consistently, im not using strong enough juice. I like each draw to kick the crap out of me so I draw, then take a small break while I enjoy the vape :)

Hope this helps

I seem to be a 24mg head.

My experience with 18mg is that I huff right through it all and suddenly it's 3am and I am walking out to the only all night market in my neighborhood to buy a pack of smokes.

I have to say that while 24mg seems to still the monster, I don't like the way it makes me feel -- fuzzy around the edges.

Maybe my next liquid purchase should be 18mg and I should make a serious effort to relax, slow down, and let my feet touch the ground once in a while.

Seems like there are a couple of issues here. First, your experience with the 510 battery is pretty comparable with mine. If I am sitting at the computer I can blow through a battery in 45 minutes easy. I was a 1.5-2 pack of full flavor camel smoker. As far a nicotine strength I started with 36mg and am now down to 24mg. It seems to me that when you first get these things you hit at them a lot because they are a.) a new toy, and b.) because you are used to dragging on regular cigarettes. Slow and long drags are the way to go. As far as quitting goes everyone is different but what worked for me was using the PV to cut down on the number of cigarettes first and then when you are comfortable dropping the tobacco all together. This way you can play around with the e-cig until you are used to it and don't have to add the stress of quitting to the learning curve, I was down to a pack a week after the first couple of weeks and thats when I quit for good. For me it would have been to hard to otherwise.

I'm totally off cigarettes now. I've had one or two in the last couple months, but I really thought they were disgusting.

But gatsby's description is really spot on. 45 minutes to completely kill the battery, huffing and puffing to still the monster.

Today I cut my 24mg liquid with VG 1-3 ratio and it made a very interesting difference. Loads more vapor, less flavor, and no more fuzzy. But I've been vaping lss because of the increase in actual vapor. Somehow the plumes of more durable vapor captivate me and I'm not so "desperate" in my drags.

I think my next purchase will be an 18mg or lower liquid. Or I may just continue to cut it myself with because the added vapor of the VG is so nice.

Thats what I do with my wifes. She likes it weak and low. About 12mg is good for her but I always buy the strongest nicotine I can then cut it with VG. Not only to increase vapor and cut nicotine, but to basically double my liquid amount.

Good to save extra money too :)

Ah ha! This is what I was thinking about. Wondering "Do I buy lower mg liquid? Or go with the cutting technique?" Thank you!

When you say "doubling" are you actually cutting the liquid at 50/50?

Point of observation:

Since I cut my liquid yesterday, I find that a good drag is a much more satisfying thing for me. The amazing volume of vapor really does it for me. So I'm actually not heating up my atomizer as much, and the batteries are lasting more than twice as long... meaning that the second battery is actually charged by the time my first one goes blinking.

Interesting...

It just depends on what I get. I cut 18mg about 60/40, 24mg about 50/50. She really doesn't notice anything until she's vaping 16mg. Then she says its too strong.

So basically I just eye ball it with hers. But one other thing is she likes mint/menthol so even cut juice still has lots of flavor.

I tend to chain-vape in the evening and had been using 2 batteries in rotation. One in use, another in the charger. Recently found that I was draining the in use battery quicker then its replacement could recharge. I put another battery in the rotation so now I have one in use, one ready to go and one in the charger. I don't think the batteries are getting weak, I'm just taking longer hits since I'm finding I like lots and lots of vapor to exhale.

It does not matter what nic % u are using a 510 last me 45 minutes when a 901 goes for 3 hours, I am not sure yet of my final decision between a 901 or a 510,but I think the 510 goes for the craving minutes and the 901 for the rest of the day

It's interesting. Yes. I have a 901 too and since adding VG to my liquid, it produces a lot more vapor as well.

I have the 901 always charged and ready now for when I've got 2 45 minute sessions and killed both my 510 batteries.

I ordered 2 of the longer manual batteries, and a charging case as well. Hopefully that will keep me stocked and working for more than my morning coffee.

Thanks goodness I found this thread.. I was just about to call TW and whine....

I have had my 501 Titan kit for about three weeks, and loving it - but in the last few days I've noticed that the battery length seems to be decreasing - I just timed it, and with a fresh charge, it lasted 51 minutes. Not continuous vaping, but steady. Unfortunately - the other dead battery took 70 minutes to charge.... (19 minutes of panic! :) )

I have a PCC – but it is getting flaky, the contacts don’t seem to be contacting, and I am having to wiggle it and occasionally do the rubber band thing. At three weeks old – I’m not very pleased with that at all. (But love the concept!) I haven’t timed a real world charge with it yet – but I am going to estimate 3-4 hours to charge a battery.

As far as the juice is concerned – I am using a cut 36mg juice; I’ve been playing with recipes and having fun with that…. I’ve discovered that I need the throat hit and good vapor to make it enjoyable, and none of the Johnson Creeks’ samples seem to give enough vapor for me (I add extra glycerin and it’s great though!)

My recipe for 2.5 ml:
25 Drops 36 mg Juice Unflavored
4 Drops 36 mg Juice Flavored
15 Drops Glycerin
6 Drops Vodka
12 Drops Flavoring(s)

Yummy! :)

I highly recommend the passthrough. Not only is it great for when you are at your PC but if you are traveling you can hook it up to the car charger. I travel a bunch for work so that helps a lot!

On the topic of 510 batteries, I have a Titan from TW with a manual batt. Here's what happens to me typically: First pull (~4-5 seconds), I get a good vape. Second pull the blue LED fades in about 2-3 seconds and I get a weak vape. Third pull and the blue LED fades almost instantly, no vape. If I remove the atty and press the button the LED remains lit... now my atty isn't really hot at this point, I have liquid and this has happened with different attys. If I wait maybe 5 mins I can repeat that cycle.

I can survive ok when I go mobile but I really do rely on my passthrough, in fact if I know I'm going to be out and about for a long time I'll take it with me since it holds a charge but it's kind of clunky to be vaping on that while mobile. Is my battery jacked up? (I only have 1 battery right now)

Dolmseth: I had the same problem with my PCC and I was able to fix it fairly easily with a little rubber foot like you get with some electronics (I'm sure you could buy some from an office supply store as well - mine were made by 3M). It pushes the battery down enough to make contact. I don't have enough posts yet to post pics or I would, been lurking for a few weeks and just signed up yesterday. :)

To answer your question... I'll get that good first hit but basically I can't just chain on it, I like being able to take a few good pulls and then set it down. I don't have to do anything wacky to it, I get that one good pull but I have to wait a few minutes to get another good one.
