can you use a cartomizer on a MAUAL, 510 battery that was made for an atomizer? I ask because I know a manual 510 battery does not have a little hole in it where the atomizer screws into it. Thanks.
Yes you can, they fit the same. The hole I believe is for auto batteries. So you can use atomizers, with carts, drip tips or just cartomizers by themselves. Oh and make sure its a 510 cartomizer not an 808

Thanks Aaron, but doesn't a cartomizer need a hole in the bottom center to draw, or does the 510 cartomizers have the holes on the sides like a regular cartridge?
The 510 atomizer and 510 cartomizer both have one hole in the bottom and I think two tiny holes near the threading on the sides. Not sure if I'm actually answering your question but I have both in front of me and they look exactly the same in regards to the holes.

All atomizers and cartomizers are exactly the same, only difference is the cartomizer has a cartridge build into the top of the atomizer. They can both be used on manual or automatic batteries, only difference between the batteries is an automatic has a hole to let the passing air when you draw activate the battery, and a manual is completely sealed because you push the button to turn it on.

I use 510 cartos all the time on my 510 manual battery! What's great about the 510 hardware is it's interchangeable with eGo batteries as well! In fact, I'm vaping a 510 carto on an eGo manual right now!
Thank you everyone. This is what I needed to know. Can you tell me, when you draw in, where does it get it's incoming air from? What holes are in the outside of these to allow air to enter when you draw, if not through the battery?
Yes indeed - you can use 510 cartos and they are yummy. Do not get LR (low resistance) cartomizers - they could kill a plain 510 battery by drawing more power than it can handle (they are meant for the fat battery Ego etc).
So far my faves are Boge soft-cap 510 cartos. You want soft-cap for easy filling. My usual vendor LiteCigUSA.com is out of the Boge but I bought some SLB there to try. Vaporkings.com has some of the Boge. Try both.

If you look at the base of the atty/carto you'll see tiny holes above the threads and notches at the base above the battery. that's where the air comes in from when you draw.

There is the one main hole at the bottom of every atomizer and cartomizer, and on 510 attys/cartos you will see two very small holes opposite each other just past the threading. Air is drawn in through all three of these holes. On a manual 510 battery the battery contributes no air flow whatsoever. I've never owned an automatic battery so I'm not sure if the air flow that goes through an auto battery contributes to the air flow through the atty/carto or just activates the battery.
In any case, as mentioned, as far as the battery is concerned, atomizers and cartomizers are identical in fit and function.
Thanks User0060! Soit draws in direct fresh air, and doesn't draw air through the battery, correct? If so, that is what I wanted to know, and that is the type of battery that I'm looking for.
