Your issue is you flooded the cart once, and now its staying that way. Heres a little known secret.
Take that 510 cart, mouthpiece end, slip you a paperclip or something in the hole, and give it a pull. The end cap will come off. Look inside..its probably a nice pool of juice, and thats what your sucking up. paper towel that bit out. Looking in now its a chamber with another lil hole...stick a paperclip in THAT hole, and pull up. Itll pop out too. Its a little disk that is supposed to keep liquid down, but it doesnt. When you pull hard on a flooded cart or atty, you just create more pressure in there, and it will pull liquid into that chamber. Chuck the disk. Put end cap back on. Now if you ever get liquid comming back at you, just blow it right back, lightly, to the atty.

I havent seen many, if any posts on this, hope it helps.

Thanks, I was wondering if I needed to keep the second disk, because it makes it much more messy when doing the "condom fill" method.

Great advice. I didn't know about being able to take out the 2nd part of the cartirdge. This only applies to the round tipped cartirdges, not the flat tipped cartiridges. I personally prefer the flat tipped cartirdges, but haven't had many problems with backfiring.

Does this apply to 901 cartirdges? I have some coming my way cuz I heard they hold more liquid than the 510 cartridges and fit on a 510 just the same.

This works for flat tips as well, though I never had much problem with those.

Although I do not have an example of the flat tips. It does work with the eGoMega flat tip cartridges.

So it may....

I clean my atomizers and cart ends regularly to prevent this from happening. I use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner with some Listerine to sterilize everything. When I'm just running into issues of getting low vapor or otherwise semi-poor performance, I get a Q-tip and alcohol and clean the threading areas and the contact areas on both the battery and the atomizer. It works for me :)
